yads@lemmy.cato Videos@lemmy.world•How Californians Reacted to New Drunk Driving Laws in 1980s41·1 year agoPeople have been using the same arguments for years. I remember watching a similar video from the BBC of the UK bringing in drunk driving laws in the 60s and it was the same stuff “How can the government dictate how much I can drink and still drive?!”
I really wonder what these people think now of being on the wrong side of history? My guess is they’re either MAGA people now or they’ve come around and think they were never really opposed to this.

I honestly haven’t had as much of an issue with Google search lately, but willing to try something new.

Just started to feel more and more weird about having to give log in info to my financial institutions. Especially once most of them started needing 2FA.
Also I’m curious about Discord, when people say they hang out there, do they just find a channel they like and keep up with the chat all day?
I think so. I’m in a few discords, but don’t really keep up with it. However, people seem to be active in them.

This is the first I’ve heard of this
In world rankings US typically ranks dead last in a lot of metrics. Guess who ranks right next to them? That’s basically the problem, we’re so obsessed with the fact that we have it better than the US we aren’t willing to look at other countries and what they do better. As long as we don’t have “US style” healthcare that’s good enough for most people here.

I did a web search and found variants but no explanation why it's funny or what it means. Can you help?261·2 years agoI guess the joke is that someone is using logic and reasoning to figure out what propels a car as though it was some great mystery that needed to be analyzed and thought about. I don’t think it’s very funny and it could have also been your friend’s delivery.

I liked the strange new worlds time travel episode. It was tongue in cheek and a real fun episode with some character building.
People say it in person a lot. Another factor might be that some people view it coming across as either non genuine or passive aggressive in written form.
