If it’s any consolation I don’t think any of them I’ve run into REQUIRE Internet to use them as a dumb screen. I wouldn’t buy one that did either. Lol.

Most TVs are dumb if you never hook them up to the Internet. I don’t allow my OLEDs on the Internet generally and simply use a different device to stream and do all the things (webOS is actually pretty cool but LG is obnoxious like this sometimes). Even if your TV is good enough, this shit happens anyway. At least if my shield gets obnoxious, I can replace it with a different device.
webhead@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•StackOverflow has lost 77% of new questions compared to 2022. Lowest # since May 2009.141·6 months agoThis is how the Internet has always been imo. You’re running into the same trolls we’ve been dealing with since we first got on the fucking Internet. Some people just cannot interact with others without being rude as fuck because they’re jaded assholes. So what if you’ve seen the same thing 80 times? Move along if you don’t care.
I feel for you. Being a computer nerd in general, I’ve had to deal with this antisocial behavior forever. You really wonder why they even bother to go to places like this if they hate other people so much. I think it’s just because they want to lord over others because that’s all they have.

I work in payments and I’ve never heard of this IBM code. The card networks just use an ISO format and every front end is different (the two we have are completely different in very fundamental ways though they are definitely both old as fuck).

It’s not going to be that expensive to only show an option if you’re in California. Companies already do this with other things like privacy related stuff.
If the company is already a scumbag company that makes it impossible to cancel, this will only stop them where they have to follow a law.

It gets so many exploits because it is so ridiculously popular. No one is going to bother looking for exploits in shit that no one uses right? I’m sure they’ve got problems like any project but I’m not convinced they’re THAT bad. Not to mention a lot of exploits you see are plugins doing dumb shit, not WP itself.

On the contrary, what can ruin it?English41·10 months agoNah it’s not that hard to make a decent burger from frozen. I don’t know WTF people are doing to mess that up. You just put it on the grill and don’t overcook it lol.

webhead@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Senators unveil bipartisan deal on stock trading ban1·1 year agoI dunno maybe they should be subject to more stringent rules like people at banks and such? If you can just trade your stocks right before you pass a law, what’s the point of the new rule? That’s part of why they’re under fire in the first place isn’t it? They have insider information. Saying you can’t trade after the fact seems like it’s too late to me. Maybe I didn’t explain that well idk.
webhead@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Senators unveil bipartisan deal on stock trading ban13·1 year agoAFTER BEING SIGNED INTO LAW seems like a huge loophole to me. They can just trade while they’re talking about it or right after it passes but hasn’t been signed, etc etc.

It’s that they don’t care to look up how. It’s pretty common. People just go oh I don’t know computers and you get whatever random crap they could throw together with zero effort lol.

If I want to go a month back I just need 4 instead of 30. At least that was the main Idea. I’ve definitely realized I fucked something up weeks ago without noticing before lol.

Pretty much every ISP blocks 80 They say it is because worms use it blah blah but it is exactly what you think. They don’t want you running a web server. You’re probably going to have to do the DNS challenge instead.

If they’re really trying to tell me it costs them 5 dollars to process a fucking check, they’re getting completely screwed. So it’s either lying and greed or unbelievable incompetence.
Big difference here is that Windows doesn’t REQUIRE developers to use the windows store or still pay them money if they use other methods of payment. Anyone can download an installer and install software without the Windows store and Microsoft doesn’t make developers pay them still to do that.
Now if they could get away with it they absolutely would like on Xbox. That’s why Valve put so much effort into Linux.
