then_three_more@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Wikipedia Pauses AI-Generated Summaries After Editor BacklashEnglish12·30 days agosome article summaries can be quite dense and filled with technical jargon, but that Al features needed to be cleared labeled as such and that users needed an easy to way to flag issues with "machine-generated/remixed content once it was published or generated automatically.
I feel like if they feel that this is an issue generate the summary in the talk page and have the editors refine and approve it before publishing. Alternatively set an expectation that the article summaries are in plain English.

Yes, maybe they’ve realised that getting seen like that isn’t helping, especially as they’ve been doing a lot to do with workers rights which clearly is going unnoticed if you think their “whole deal” has been cutting essential services and austerity. (though I’d argue that it’s not essential for people like my dad who’s on a final salary pension of about £35k plus his state pension to receive winter fuel allowance)
then_three_more@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•South Western Railway first rail firm renationalised by LabourEnglish8·2 months agoAbsolutely this.
Themes water should have been allowed to go bust so the government could buy it back super cheap.
I’m glad at least it looks like the threat of them forcing them not to take bonuses will be making them voluntarily not take them. Plus the whole personal liability for pollution thing so that the execs can end up with prison time if they don’t get their act together.
then_three_more@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•South Western Railway first rail firm renationalised by LabourEnglish3·2 months agoI’m lost now. Labour are economically left of centre (though arguably have been drifting more right) they’re all for nationalisation. It’s the conservatives (right of centre though moving further right recently and just a bit unhinged lately) that want everything privatised.

I am.
I just don’t understand how they can work.
If you don’t use them for every transaction how do they stay synchronised with the bank’s records of how much you have in your account?
When the power is out and the bank can’t check their computer, what’s to stop someone turning up with a bank book that says they have £1 in it and saying that there’s more because they transferred it online before the power went out? Or, of course, the book saying they have more than they do because they took some out before power went out?
So you have to use them every time you use the bank, I’m assuming this also means that these accounts don’t allow you to do any kind of internet or telephone banking.
Presumably even there though they check the details from your book against the computer system, to not only check that the book is accurate and that the branch has enough cash on hand to fulfil your request? The computer system that has had no power for a week.

However what has been happening is that the extra money has been being funneled into the pockets of the rich. I’ll bet you the board and senior management ain’t giving themselves inflation based pay rises.
Must be Aussies then. Brits it’s ache.
