Sure am excited about my new light bulbs though.

Fuck that abomination you described though.
sangriaferret@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it common for famous singers to perform privately on the down low for wealthy people?241·11 days agoBefore she was famous Lady Gaga used to hang out at a tiny bar in lower Manhattan. She go-go danced sometimes and was part of the scene of regulars there.
I started working there years later after she had become a superstar and a lot of those regulars still hung out there. She was still tight with them and even in a relationship with my boss. She didn’t come around much though and we had to keep things on the DL.
One night she gave an unadvertised performance in the back room with a jazz combo of some of the regulars backing her. A secret show: If you knew, you knew.
No rich person hired her. She just wanted to do something fun with her friends.

sangriaferret@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever cried over a celebrity or complete strangers death, why?9·19 days agoDavid Bowie. He was such a cultural touchstone that influenced so much artistry on top of being a brilliant artist himself. I lived in New York City when he died and the stoop of his apartment turned into a makeshift memorial with countless people contributing objects that held significance to their relationship with him. I was so overwhelmed to see it that I cried.
Someone in the props department snuck in a joke.

sangriaferret@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a strange food combination you love?2·2 months agoNope. Somehow I just crave a piece of white bread after eating a brownie and then maybe repeating the process. I have no rational explanation for this.

sangriaferret@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you have a drink at lunch and then go back to work?16·3 months agoBartender. I don’t get a lunch break so I just drink on the clock.

I was living in a house Brooklyn and I volunteered. His name was Robert and he was a really great dude. I really enjoyed hanging out with while he stayed. I told him he could stay as long as he wanted. He was such a boss that he had a chef job and his own New York apartment within two weeks.
