my ‘arch based’ system is a cinnamon-flavoured manjaro. manjaro gets shit on for reasons, one of them being they hold back updated packages for a bit… which is basically what you recommend, and it’s what i usually do anyway–defer updates for awhile (even on windows), unless it’s a super critical issue that could actually be a problem.

that manjaro desktop has been solid, never once messed-up an update even with the aur packages i have installed, and even if it’s been a month or two since it last updated.

here, the cable company currently is actually billing the advertised price if you’re an internet-only customer. no taxes, fees, or other bullshit other than their ridiculously-high equipment fee if you want to use their wifi router. their rates also go up once or twice a year just because they value your continued business and don’t want you to feel left out.

the telephone company, on the other hand, if you have dsl–look out. at least 25-40% in extra bullshit fees, nearly all of it is kept by them (i.e. not simply a pass-through to the government).

did you just drop the full index into the config, like the ‘how to use’ image shows in the repo’s ‘readme’? take that out, it’s all 10,000+ ‘channels’. go into the repo’s ‘streams’ directory and find one or a few for your country and add those instead (load the ‘raw’ url for each in the browser, then copy the resulting address from your browser address bar into the config).
