DOOM Dark Ages. I’m about halfway through.
“All code paid for by taxpayer dollars should be open source, available for comment, for feedback, for people to build on and for people in other agencies to replicate. It saves everyone money and it is our [taxpayers’] IP,” she said. “This is just good government and should absolutely be the standard that government technologists are held to.”"
Nice sentiment, but bad take. Open-sourcing the software that runs our military equipment would be a fantastic gift to the bad actors of the world.
Not a CEO, he’s the president of Panama.
Not having really researched the topic, I understand electric vehicles in general have more torque and power than ICE vehicles. Given that the major brands have made EV trucks that have very similar packaging to their ICE counterparts, the only holdback is the range and charging anxiety. For anyone not towing heavy loads long distances, an EV truck should be more than capable as a work truck, and in some ways even more capable (job site power) or preferable (maintenance cost reduction and fleet charging at the office) over their counterparts.
Edit: there is a second holdback of the “my truck absolutely needs to make smog and noise because I’m insecure about myself” crowd.
The only text on that page that states the origin of the dev’s code is Mazda’s claim that the relevant code is Mazda’s. If their claim is true, then it would seem to me the DMCA takedown is valid.
The reason the DMCA takedown notice is malicious is that code from Mazda’s official app is not required to develop a tool that works in a similar way. The API of the server is freely accessible and figuring out how to interact with it can be done completely without infringing on anyone’s copyright.
Okay, it doesn’t matter how it could have been done, it matters how it was done, and again, the only claim made on the page is that it was stolen code.
I’m all for actually owning what you buy and being able to integrate it with your other stuff however you please, but distributing someone else’s work is a valid claim for infringement. And as with any other cloud-based stuff, don’t expect it to work forever. Support and push for local device access without the need for cloud services.
volts hurt, amps kill
True, in a sense, but misses some nuance. Current is pulled, not pushed. Volts provide the electromotive force that allows the current to flow in the first place. Considering Ohm’s Law (V=IR), for 8 Amps to be pulled by a human body at 110V, the body would have to provide a resistance of only 14 Ohms.
A quick search shows humans can range from 1000 Ohms when really wet up to 100,000 Ohms dry. I’m assuming this is just in regards to skin, because another result specified 300 Ohms inside the body. Let’s just look at the 300 Ohms, and we’ll say 8 Amps * 300 Ohms = 2400 Volts. 2400 Volts to pull less current through the body than your average hair dryer pulls at 110 Volts.
Another way to look at it is a car battery is 12 Volts and has the capacity to provide around 500 Amps. Touching one terminal with each hand won’t kill you. We don’t come close to drawing the 500 Amps the battery is capable of providing, as we’re only pulling 12 V / 300 Ohms = 40 mA at worst (but remember that skin provides extra resistance beyond the 300 Ohms, so really we’d be pulling much less). It only takes a couple milliamps across the heart to kill you, but what little current flows through you is taking many split paths through your body, so only a portion of that goes through the heart.
900W/4A
Beyond 4 Amps being the most insanely low rating I’ve ever seen on a power strip, 900 Watts would actually be 8 Amps at the 110 Volts dictated by the North American plug on the cord.
TIL. So yeah, what remains of Abe is not very active at all, as far as what’s observable to the unaided eye. I’m sure there’s some trace amounts of radioactivity in the ashes and some molecular movement due to the fact he’s not stored at absolute zero.
Actively decomposing, unless he was cremated.
Brace yourself, because it’s going to get a lot worse.
Kill more civilians, radicalize the survivors against you, generate more enemies, bomb new radicalized enemies, kill more civilians…
Same. And I’ve bought many UGreen chargers and cables since that whole ordeal. Since then I’ve seen some Anker chargers, batteries, and desk power strips that looked really appealing and that I would’ve bought if I wasn’t avoiding them.
Eco Tank is a good choice if you print with regularity or need a photo printer, but not if you print maybe once or twice a year. It’s still an inkjet, and the head will still clog if sat unused for a couple months, requiring a lengthy head cleaning cycle and possible replacement of the maintenance box. If you almost never print, but need your printer to just work without fuss that one random day you need to print, it’s gotta be a laser printer.
A sane president who values geopolitical allies would just work out a deal with the host country to install more military bases in the region of concern, rather than burning every partnership we have by being aggressively expansionist.
If I was Zelensky, I’d probably distrust any US intelligence going forward anyway. Cross-validate US intelligence against that of European intelligence while tracking Russian equipment movement during the ceasefire, ready to unleash a simultaneous strike against everything within reach the moment Russia breaches the agreement.
The end of I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home) by Grand Funk Railroad fits that description.
What sneaky?
He was sentenced. The sentence was effectively a judicial shrug.
