  • Trump sucks for a million other reasons but this is objectively such a good thing for my region (Pittsburgh) and the business I work in. US Steel was for sale no matter what and the American companies like Cleveland Cliffs and Nucor that were trying to buy it were offering around half the price per share as Nippon, and probably a quarter of the investment while maintaining US steel’s longstanding flippant policy towards environmental concerns and keeping old outdated dangerous machinery and equipment.

Nippon is investing billions into this region and US Steel. The new technology of steel mills is safer, cleaner, and better. There is way more automation taking people out of dangerous and hazardous roles in the mills

Really I’ll be busy af with overtime, service calls for installations, our sales will skyrocket resulting in more jobs. Also Japanese companies tend to invest not only in the business, but things like public transit, improving our terrible roads, housing, etc.

I did not understand why Biden blocked the deal for “security concerns” and I don’t give a fuck that trump was opposed to the deal on the campaign trail to win votes. I was very happy to hear the news as it will pretty dramatically affect my livelihood and career.

  • I live in Pittsburgh and there are literally no cops on duty from like 3-5 AM or something. We haven’t had a police chief in years, and I never see cops unless there’s a violent crime or a car accident or overdose. You can kinda do whatever you want in terms of traffic laws. I’ve never even heard of someone getting a traffic ticket in the city, and most times if you’re actually goin the speed limit you’re a hazard that isn’t following the flow of traffic. Completely different story in the suburbs outside the city.

It kinda rules not gonna lie.

  • This group doesn’t see Palestinian lives as worth as much as Israeli ones, clearly.

I’m sorry but 21 hostages don’t hold a candle to over 50k dead, including women and children and 1.8 million classified as “extremely critical” levels of hunger. There’s a famine in Gaza right now, they’ve been scorch earth bombed to hell resulting in widespread homelessness. Israel just gunned down and murdered 30 innocent people today and injured hundreds more who were there for food from an aid truck simply for crossing a line slightly before 6 AM.

Fuck out of here. Sudan and Haiti are not part of this conversation for a reason and it’s because Haiti is in the Caribbean for fucks sake so that’s a stretch to “you don’t care about hostages”. It’s a genocide orchestrated by the Israeli government. The hostages are a flimsy excuse at best.

  • Saw some very loud bands and DJs in venues way too small a few years ago right after covid. I’ve had tinnitus ever since. It sucks, but I only really hear it late at night when I’m going to bed and there’s no noise. Factory life means I’m working around loud noises all day, but this current shop I’m working at is miles better than the one I worked at for 7 years.

What’s odd is I never got it pre-covid and I definitely used to push my luck even more back then. Maybe getting covid a few times changed something, my friend’s brother just permanently has tinnitus from getting covid.

There was one night in particular though that I still remember, my ears were ringing the day after. Usually they’d tone down by the 12 hour mark. The second day, I was like oh shit this is probably permanent. It was, that was in 2021. I definitely sulked in my feelings a bit after that, and now I wear ear protection to every concert. It’s just not worth it to damage my ears further.
