  • This feels like a flimsy solution to the problem that will fail. I guess that when Medicaid recipients don’t/won’t/can’t sign up, the government will take away their healthcare and use slave labor from prisons to catch up.

I think in six months they will be saying: "hey we tried this idea with Medicare recipients, but they just wanted to stay home and play video games. Now our crops are in danger of not being harvested.

What if… We round up some of these bad prisoners and make them work for almost free!? That will kill two stones."

  • Reverse engineering the server is reverse engineering the whole game. It’s going to require skilled engineers and a significant time investment. It may be possible, but not practical.

Also, the client will likely verify it is talking to a legitimate server by checking a certificate, so you may also have to hack the client too.

At some point you’re better off making your own game with hookers and blackjack.

  • I’m also a developer. I had a some light automation set up, and one day decided to revert the whole thing.

When I enter a room I flip the switch, and the lights come on. It’s so elegant and simple, no sensors or wifi required.

I do have one automated light in my basement, but it is just a dumb motion sensor in my laundry room. that’s nice when my hands are full, otherwise I’m capable of toggling the lights.

People do some cool stuff with automation, but for the most part these are solved problems. I don’t need to hit a movie button on my phone and have the room reconfigure itself. I do, however, need to get my steps in, so I’ll walk across a room.
