So it should be safe in airplane mode, no? If I can trust my device, that is.

What’s wrong with a grapheneOS device on airplane mode? Is firmware level tracking a confirmed thing?
moonlight@fedia.ioto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are foldable phones as good/bad as they say?2·8 days agoI think it depends a lot on the style and size of pants, and it’s just a personal preference.
While I prefer smaller phones for how they feel in the hand, all of my pants could easily fit a phone 7" or larger. But if normal phones don’t fit in your pockets, then a folding phone makes sense.
Also personally I’m the sort of person who dislikes how bulky traditional wallets are, and I’m bothered by my earbuds case. But point taken that a folding phone still isn’t very thick generally.
moonlight@fedia.ioto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are foldable phones as good/bad as they say?91·8 days agoInteresting, I always thought that was the pointless form factor. I guess I could see it being nice if you have really shallow pockets, although it seems like it would be uncomfortably thick compared to a normal phone when closed.
With the fold style, (especially trifold) It turns into a tablet you can carry in your pocket. Which would be worth it if it wasn’t fragile and twice the price of a phone + tablet.
moonlight@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is moderately severe back pain really normal at 30?2·13 days agoI’m younger and don’t have a serious injury, so I wouldn’t say this would fix back pain for someone with an actual injury.
But for me, back pain was fixed with better posture and muscle strengthening too.
I think the biggest thing was focusing on engaging the muscles supporting the lower back. Glutes and core specifically.
And for posture, just be conscious about keeping the body in alignment in a way that feels comfortable, not “sitting up straight”

moonlight@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the modern design trends you hate most?5·15 days agoWell ideally they would just make the phone more durable without a case, and the full thickness of the camera filled with battery, headphone jack, etc.
Seriously so much smartphone design is based on initial appeal, not actual usability.
moonlight@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the modern design trends you hate most?5·15 days agoYes this is so dumb. Razor thin phone with massive camera bumps. Who is asking for this?

Anime and Manga are just media, so there are good and bad series, like anything else. It’s not worth obsessing over, or writing it off. But there are definitely shows that are worthy of some amount of hype.
Gyms are a good place to have access to various machines and weights for strength training (which is super important!) It has advantages and disadvantages compared to something like calisthenics. Yoga is a great way of moving and stretching the body, which is big for flexibility and general mobility. Especially combined with some form of strength training, it will have a huge impact on how your body feels.
Fashion, makeup, and nail polish are all about self expression. Fast fashion is bad, but fashion can mean just putting together a good outfit. It’s worth it to put a bit of effort into what you wear, and making your clothes into something that reflects you. Makeup also has a positive and negative side. On one hand, a lot of people use it (often heavily) to cover up their percoeved flaws and ‘fix’ their appearance. I think that’s unhealthy and a bit sad. But makeup is also an an art form; it turns your face into a canvas. Think winged eyeliner, glitter, colored eyeshadow or lipstick, etc. This includes nail polish. It’s an expression of creativity, an you get to look nice at the end! Even if it’s something you aren’t personally interested in, (or if you are discouraged from self ornamentation due to gender expectations) It should be clear why people enjoy these things.

All artists that I’ve liked for a long time that I’m unlikely to get sick of. Also with quite large discographies.
Laplace’s Demon is just a thought experiment, and has nothing to do with alternate timelines.
Anyway, multiple timelines are definitely not incompatible with our understanding of physics and causality. Look into the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. (in my opinion, the most reasonable explanation of quantum physics)
moonlight@fedia.ioto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think a story that mixes magic with super advanced technology can work?5·28 days agoDefinitely, although I think it’s most interesting if the advanced technology is based on the magic.
Like, let’s say there is a world where there are magic plants that can heal you, people who can magically scry nearby locations if they meditate deeply, and stones that levitate in the moonlight.
And there’s an evil empire that exploits the fuck out of this by industrially farming the plants to create a highly concentrated serum, removing people’s brains and hooking them up to computers for magical sensing abilities, and attaching fragments of moon rocks to the levitating stones to create antigravity. Creating invulnerable flying supersoldiers with impossibly good radar powered by brain backpacks.
moonlight@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What would life be like if reincarnation was a proven thing and we could remember all our past lives?11·29 days agotw
It’s a bit dark, but I think suicide would become extremely common. Born in a third world country? Reroll. Born as the wrong gender? Mulligan. Getting old? Refresh. etc.
It would probably cause a lot of chaos in society. I think there would probably be a stigma around it unless there’s a good reason, with people going out of their way to prove that they died naturally. I guess you’d have to memorize a secret phrase or something to prove you’re the same person.
Also, would people even want to have kids, if it’s just some random old person’s mind? Not really sure how I would feel about that.
And what happens when the population decreases? Would everyone just be waiting in a queue to be born, or would they actually die? Either way, choosing to not have kids would become a bit of a tragedy of the commons.
moonlight@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What would life be like if reincarnation was a proven thing and we could remember all our past lives?4·29 days agoUh, unless you’re a philosophical zombie, you have direct proof that consciousness exists. On a level that isn’t directly explainable from our current understanding of the brain.
I don’t have any proof that anyone else is conscious. For all I know, it’s possible that everyone else is just a biological automaton. (although occam’s razor suggests otherwise)
But I do experience my own existence and awareness. So because of that, I’m 100% certain that consciousness is a real thing, more certain than I am of literally anything else existing.
I’d like to clarify that it doesn’t mean that free will exists, and doesn’t suggest whether consciousness is emergent, separate, or universal. But it definitely exists beyond just being some observable collection of behaviours.

And the contact lens definitely won’t make infrared light as bright as visibly light. It also likely doesn’t line up exactly with the wavelength used by most cameras.
It would probably be noticeable but not appear very bright.

This is bullshit. Adobe had a negative space verion of the a, but never used anything that looks like this until very recently. Meanwhile Delta has beem using this logo for well over a decade.
Also, it’s a pretty generic logo that probably shouldn’t be trademarkable. (the earlier negative space version, sure, but not what amounts to basically just a triangle)
It sucks that corporations can basically just decide that something is theirs now, and force everyone else to stop using it.
moonlight@fedia.ioto Games@lemmy.world•What level of interest do you have in "empire building" location based games?1·1 month agoShadow Cities was really fun back in the day. Despite coming out so long ago, I think it was the best location based game. I’m disappointed and a bit surprised that nobody ever recreated it. Niantic tried, but they never really captured the magic of it. Pokemon go was fun for a short time, but got boring fast. I think it was a huge missed opportunity to not have actual Pokemon battles, especially PvP.

No I get it. Hair that’s put up in a messy way, so that there’s a few stray strands that fall along the face and neck… Strangely hot.
