A woman I know did just that, except she wrote a book during her “off” years.

He just does not get it.

I moderate a few groups on Facebook, and every account I see for new members that was created within the last few years is a spammer. The people who wanted Facebook accounts already have them. Very very few actual human beings are signing up for new legitimate accounts at this point.
Facebook should just close the new account option. They’re working toward AIs talking to each other and won’t need human interaction any more anyway.

It’s too big for many people. It’s not as functional (in terms of towing and hauling) as a regular pickup. People who buy pickups for business uses are, for the most part, are going to be very nervous about buying an electric vehicle from a relatively new manufacturer.
Even if you put aside the issues with Elon: The issue with the Cybertruck is that Elon never understood it was a novelty vehicle. The traditional auto manufacturers make these novelty vehicles from time to time, but the difference is that they understand what they’re building and know they’re only going to sell 10,000 or something per year, and probably for a short run.
Elon’s so far up his own ass that he doesn’t understand why everyone isn’t buying one.

Looks like there’s one, the Nissan Versa.
limelight79@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Slate, a customizable EV pickup for $20kEnglish3·2 months agoI mean, are there any cars available in the US for just $20k? I’m pretty sure a base Mazda 3 was more than that when we bought ours five years ago (before the pandemic, and ours is a higher trim model). I don’t think they’re making the really small cars any more (like the Toyota Yaris).
Short version, I’m skeptical of this price point for even a small pickup. Great if they can do it.

If a friend reshares something, you’ll see it, but it removes all groups, etc. It was stunning how little content actually comes from friends.
On the Facebook site (I’m sure it can be done via app, too, but I didn’t look), click on the menu near the top right, then click Feeds (under Social). Then click on Friends on the left.

limelight79@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Russia Not on US Tariff List Despite Broad Global Reach | Sweden HeraldEnglish3·3 months agoTrump seems to think the trade deficit is some sort of debt that we’ll have to pay off in the future.
The overall goal of bringing manufacturing back to the US isn’t necessarily a bad one, but this is probably the worst way to go about doing it. One article I read pointed out that it would take many years of consistent tariffs to generate that kind of interest and investment - but anyone with half a brain knows these tariffs could be gone tomorrow, so there’s little inclination to actually try to build factories in the US based on this move. No reasonable investor would want to bet their company on Trump acting consistently.
limelight79@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Russia Not on US Tariff List Despite Broad Global Reach | Sweden HeraldEnglish31·3 months agoI doubt it’s a blackmail thing, because at this point, not one of Trump’s supporters would give a damn if it was clearly proven that Trump personally took CP pictures.
I think Putin just whispers sweet nothings into Trump’s ear and controls him that way.

For whatever reason it doesn’t have that TPM chip, despite the fact that I bought it in 2021 or so. So it won’t upgrade to Win 11.
But…it turns out Zwift runs great under WINE…so now it runs Debian with WINE. (Which probably wasn’t my best choice - should have gone with something a little more up to date - but it does work.)
Good point. It’s still an odd term to describe fighter planes.
I am a native English speaker. It sounds like something someone who was translating from another language would say. “Soldiers” is the really common term.
Warfighters?
Unfortunately, you’re probably right.
Wasn’t Tesla the company that had a person (or group of people) dedicated to distracting him, thereby letting the rest of the company actually do work?
