josefo@leminal.spaceto World News@lemmy.world•Revealed: Thousands of UK university students caught cheating using AIEnglish10·23 days agoIt’s not cheating, it’s vibe studying
Eeehhh, unless you read every paper ever, you are kinda trusting the process like a black box in most cases, aka, believing. The most papers you have read in your lifetime, the less true that statement is. There is also a whole section of philosophy about this topic.
I know what you mean, but this is a fun exercise. The opposite of a Rat King clearly is a Cat Peasant. The opposite of an ant mill is trickier, there is no such machine that recomposes flour to make whole grains again, reversing the milling process, but the next similar thing would be making bread, so I pick Thermite Bakery.
If cults need to protect their members and beliefs from society and laws to survive, and with religions both support each other, then the opposite of an cult would be a society that needs to protect their members and laws from beliefs, taking drastic measures to separate their members from said beliefs. I guess some sort of atheistic authoritarian state would be the opposite, on your scale. So, North Korea? It doesn’t feel quite right because those authoritarian states depend on a cult of personality. Maybe some technocratic AI state? I don’t know if there is something simpler I’m missing.
The other way of thing it would be, the beliefs organization growing bigger and shallowing the society in that third stage, so people need to protect themselves from the big theocratic apparatus, taking drastic measures to restrict their members and separate them from the big theocracy, living in communities, farming and reading philosophy and cultivating science, educating each other? This is somewhat similar to the setting in V for Vendetta. Also reminds me of what people do in some places dominated by Islamic theocracy, a very cult like way of gathering in secret at houses, sharing banned books, and literally risking their lives for even discussing such things at their homes.
But I agree with you, OP needs to define better the difference perceived between cults and religions, so we can extrapolate a better answer.

josefo@leminal.spaceto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•My mom tells me I should cut dad off for cheating on her, am I a bad person for not wanting to do so?161·1 month agoI mostly agree with this comment. I want to emphasize two things:
- Your mom is now alone, and probably feels like you are choosing him instead of her. She must feel very rejected as a person, betrayal is not something you easily recover from, the more time they spent together, the harder it is to separate yourself from the situation. She will eventually get better, but take into consideration that she is desperate now.
- Depending on how old are you, I would suggest leaving your house, either to go with your mom (see above) or living alone/with roomates if you are an adult. Your dad bringing the woman to your house raises some big red flags to me. Something is not right there, I can’t quite put my finger on what it is.
That said, don’t cut your dad out of your life, but your mom is alone and betrayed, and your dad isn’t. If I were to support someone here, would be her, without cutting anyone from your life.

I’m not justifying it, I’m explaining it. Also, guess who doesn’t gives shit about E2EE? Average Joes.
I agree with you, but still your idea of garbage is not shared by the general population. Remember that telegram got traction because it falsely claimed that it was secure, or at least more secure than WhatsApp.
josefo@leminal.spaceto Technology@lemmy.world•Telegram and xAI agreed a one-year deal to integrate Grok into the chat app; Telegram will get $300M in cash and equity from xAI and 50% of subscription revenue.English5·1 month agoTheir bot api is very easy to use. I have made some telegram bots because is so easy. Tried to do the same with WhatsApp and didn’t even get permission and api access.
Average Joes use mainstream things, if you want to do something accessible, these bots are the way. Ideally, you want them to download or use an app that does some hand holding. I’m all up to the fediverse but let’s be honest, it has some non intuitive things for today’s user, most were trained to understand and like centralized services. They vaguely understand and use emails today, and mostly for account creation of other platforms.
Disclaimer: haven’t tried to make signal bots, they are a thing?

They die, either from lack of food, or because they are hunted and eaten. I believe something like this is going to happen. Thanks to JFK Jr, it could totally be measles or another stupid disease, because fortunately, this people don’t believe in vaccines.
Also, have children out of spite, and raise them to actually use their brains, to challenge the system. An vaccinate them, so they are around when the others die. Plant the seed of change in them, make them be a better adult than you. Give them the tools you didn’t have. Cultivate a loving, tolerant and comprehensive pair of folks, teach them to help those in need. Don’t give up reproduction, weaponize it.

What name do you have for the activity of making money using someone else work or data, without their consent or giving compensation? If the tech was just tech, it wouldn’t need any non consenting human input for it to work properly. This are just companies feeding on various types of data, if justice doesn’t protects an author, what do you think it would happen if these same models started feeding of user data instead? Tech is good, ethics are not
