hex@programming.devto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If elon musk (or any far-right billionaire) bought Reddit, do you think there will be a mass exodus to alternatives like Lemmy, similar to the twitter exodus to Bluesky?2·7 months agoYou definitely know what you’re talking about. I have no idea how federated shit works. As far as I can understand each instance hosts its own content, but connects to other instances and fetches their content too. So, yeah, they’re all different sites, but they’re adhering to one “federation standard” (like an API response format for a post or a list of posts or whatever). How far off am I?
hex@programming.devto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If elon musk (or any far-right billionaire) bought Reddit, do you think there will be a mass exodus to alternatives like Lemmy, similar to the twitter exodus to Bluesky?3·7 months agoYeah but Lemmy instances are interconnected to a certain degree. Wordpress instances are not. Key difference…
It’s not even about the CLI. it’s about hygiene
I just hate the vscode source control. It has always felt clunky and like it breaks things (or i just never figured out the workflow - either way i dont need it lol) It is way clearer to see what is happening the console
hex@programming.devto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing?2·8 months agoAs soon as you see those sections with bullet points you know.
hex@programming.devto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing?1·8 months agoYou should’ve quoted the gpt part or mentioned it. That’s why people are upset, it seems misleading. I get why you did it though.
hex@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Guy makes “dodgy e-bike” from 130 used vapes to make point about e-wasteEnglish4·8 months agoThe bonus for vapes is you can wean off nicotine at a super precise rate. You can mix your nicotine juice with more and more non-nicotine juice to achieve greater and greater levels of dilution until the nicotine dose you’re taking is so low that it doesn’t matter to stop.

YouTube music used to be good when it was Google music. But i think the app has been improving YouTube music is becoming better.
Oh yeah. Peak reddit years lol. Before the corporate enshittification.
Lemmy is good fun though, I definitely appreciate it.
Remember on reddit when we used to upvote an image with a completely unrelated word because we thought it’d be funny if the image popped up in a google search?

I hear ya. As always, it’s a balance between having functions that are too long, and many too small functions. Matter of team preferences too.
That makes sense.
You make some great points. Using smaller functions and breaking up your code in readable bits makes a huge difference and you will likely never need comments if you do it right 👍🏻
You’re wildly under-estimating what a 5 year old is capable of, let alone a 10 year old.
