Yup, this is why the $80 price tag doesn’t bother me. I’ve got a backlog of games I want to play that I probably already can’t finish in my lifetime. This will be $20 a year post release and in two years that $20 will get you all the dlc as well.
Games at that time were cutting edge technology, distribution networks didn’t exist, physical units had to make it to stores, etc. The environment isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think $80 is terribly outrageous in our modern economy but at that price point it has better provide 60+ hours of entertainment. If outer worlds 2 is as good as #1 it’s worth $40 tops. I played that game end to end and can’t recall a single characters name.
The guy selling the car doesn’t tell you it runs like a horse, the guy selling you AI is telling you it has reasoning skills. AI absolutely has utility, the guys making it are saying it’s utility is nearly limitless because Tesla has demonstrated there’s no actual penalty for lying to investors.
That’s why I generally introduce myself as a Californian to foreigners, slightly less to be ashamed of.
This is probably the biggest factor for me, outside of my subs all the content it recommends is low effort AI content. “Oh cool a video about this historical thing I’m interested in.” Cuts to AI slideshow with bad grammar, pacing and no inflection, click don’t suggest videos from this creator. YouTube suggests similar slop from other “creators.”
I had an acquaintance ask me about my opinion on crypto a few years ago and I explained it only has the perceived value and is highly volatile as a result, and that all but a few coins were basically rug pulls waiting to happen. He was satisfied with that and moved on. About a year later crypto had roughly doubled in value and he gave me shit about bad advice (it was an opinion not investment advice) and proceeded to move $10k into some coin I’d never heard of. About a month later a mutual friend said the other guy had lost like $8k of his $10k investment. Next time I saw the acquaintance there was no mention of crypto.

I was in a similar situation about 8 years ago. Married my dream girl, she seemed perfect for those years of flirting and dating. Didn’t really notice that she’d slowly separated me from my support network. After we got married it was like a switch was flipped, I was always on the defensive, everything I did was wrong, I was always the bad guy. Woke up one day feeling like it’d be better if I just wasn’t around anymore. Stewed in my misery for months before realizing one evening that there was a source of my misery. Spent another couple of months feeling too embarrassed to do anything. Then one day she was giving me shit over some nonsense and I just blurted it out. It wasn’t easy, but things slowly got back on track. I focused on myself and what was in my control, got back in shape, found time for hobbies I’d left behind, brought myself the joy that was missing. Now I’m happily married to an amazing woman who’s provided me with an equally amazing child and it’s hard for me to even remember the anguish I was going through.
Obviously our situations aren’t the same, but I just wanted to share and let you know that things get better. Some friends will filter back in, some won’t. Any mutual friends I had with my ex are just gone, she made sure to put barriers between us with shit talking and lies; fuck them too, they weren’t true friends.

I was reading the/r/conservative response to this last night and they see themselves as persecuted and are unable to grasp why people who were unlikely to die from COVID should still take precautions against it. To you and me the story is plain and simple; we do it to hopefully slow the spread and help keep the most vulnerable as safe as possible. Hooray that worked (mostly). Now they say “see it was nothing, the vaccine was and is fake.” They’ve completely forgotten about the literal truck loads of corpses and that COVID couple have been magnitudes worse if more variants had surfaced.
It’s awful but I kinda wish we did let it get that bad, if enough of those halfwits died the whole world would be better off.

Yup, this was me at a lunch table at work. Dudes were pulling the most repulsive stories about fucking another chick while their GF is doing XYZ or not washing between their side girl and main chick and i just couldn’t sit there. Pretended I got a notification and was like “whelp I got work to do, later!”

From what I’ve heard a lot of the same og programmers and animators from the game boy days are still in charge of making the games and they don’t want a large team. They also don’t want to have to work really hard or learn new skills, so basically all the work falls to inexperienced people being led by people with incredibly dated skills. Nintendo still rakes in tons of money so they don’t see the need to interject.
IMO this is the best option. Choose activities you’d like to do and you’ll meet women with similar interests and it’s way easier to connect.

A wiser human than me could probably find a way to incentivise companies moving headquarters out of high cost of living areas to more rural areas where rent isn’t half your paycheck.
I’ve never worked for a company where the CEO was a value add.
