Nothing really. Reddit will go on as usual with a bit less users and more ad revenue.

They will ban everyone in their way and replace them with some puppet or someone who doesn’t care about the api fiasco. Most of them will cave in. They have no choice, because they don’t hold any real power to attempt a coup. You know who should quit? Users. But they obviously don’t care about the cause enough. Imagine if everyone quit for a month …

f1g4@feddit.itto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Reddit Refugees on Lemmy, how are you guys liking lemmy so far?English3·2 years agoThere will always be new and smaller instances tho. Like it was true for smaller communities in reddit. It’s all good and well until they get exceedingly popular and a shitshow.
Your data can’t be stolen because it was never meant to be kept, besides your email and password
I confirm that in the terms and condition they discourage the use as a private cloud backup and only to host stuff related to the website. Now… until now I’ve had no complaints as I’ve been paying and kept the traffic at minimum. I guess I’ll have to switch to some more cloud oriented version if I keep expanding. But it’s worked for now !

A simple script using duplicity to FTP data on my private website with infinite storage. I can’t say if it’s good or not. It’s my first time doing it.

Normal bits can be set to 0 or 1. Qbits can be in a superpositions of states 0 and 1. So the state of a qbits can be written as a weighted sum of the two states. Now you can do traditional math with this, always could. It’s just a physical level difference of the system. There are many bullshit things with quantum computing tho. They are probabilistic in nature and have infinite memory.of the past, for example.
f1g4@feddit.itto Technology@lemmy.world•Supercomputer makes calculations in blink of an eye that take rivals 47 yearsEnglish21·2 years agoQuantum computing is just a very weird, niche and very expensive way to do a very limited range of things. Some scientists are skeptical they’ll ever get to a usable point… bc you need a ton of qbits for something interesting, there’s not way to initialize / return to a blank state (qbits have infinite memory of the past) and to read the solution you must collapse the wave function to something. So even the output is probabilistic. Stuff is werid.

f1g4@feddit.itto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What can the 'average Joe' start hosting, that will change their life?English3·2 years agoIf you don’t explicitly set a DNS to allow access from outside the local network, all your stuff is private and confined within your local network. As it is with all, let’s say, wifi stuff that goes on in your home.
