Well, it’s a bit better than that, simply because you can train AI with solar power. Probably nobody does that currently, as it’s easier, faster-to-market and probably (for whatever corrupt reason) cheaper for business to let it run on burning fossils/nuclear. Currently there’s an insane amount of waste, often 1000s of models are trained and only the best performing one is deployed - and then it’s just a fancy autocomplete. The better use is for prediction of material failure, new medicine and protein folding, generally improved processes.

With asbestos you get some convenience, but it’ll be for eternity a pain to find a waste management facility that will accept it.

Make political advertisement / political messaging illegal on entertainment platforms. There’s precedent for highly regulated TV advertisements, why is there such a broad exception for unregulated manipulative online advertising? Why is cigarette, religious, drug advertising forbidden but political lies and agendas allowed, endorsed even? Fines need to be 50% of monthly worldwide profit and increase by 5% for each month of noncompliance.

This simple legislation would instantly solve a lot of current issues with what’s wrong and protect free, democratic nations.

Well, ever since there was that fighting around nuclear power plants, I was regularly checking weather patterns, especially the wind directions. If he, say, nuked Kiew within the next week, the fallout would mostly blow to Belarus and back to Russia. Plus, then all guards come off, no treaty has meaning and I see no reason for not going full dirty warfare by Ukraine by say destroying/causing meltdowns hitting nuclear power plants in Russia directly (Kursk,…) thus causing likely fallout over Moscow. And that’s not even including a European response, where there’s historically very little tolerance for fallout-causing type events and therefore could evoke a disproportionately strong we-have-nothing-more-to-lose-and-are-estremely-pissed response.

So, all hypothetical, but what I’m saying is, it’s not a good outcome where everyone loses, but especially bad for Russia. I’m not convinced that’s what will happen.

Kind of a bummer, was coming up to a work laptop upgrade soon and was carefully watching the Linux support for Snapdragon X because I can’t bring myself to deal with Apple shenanigans, but like the idea of performance and efficiency. The caution with which I approached it stems from my “I don’t really believe a fucking thing Qualcomm Marketing says” mentality, and it seems holding off and watching was the right call.
