  • Insects and arachnids, although I’ve noticed I know more about those than the average person in general.

I’ve loved them ever since I can remember. My mom said I used to watch aphids as a toddler and she bought me a magnifying glass because she was afraid I would hurt my eyes. I’ve posted pictures of my green lynx spider friend living in my garden and folks online and off didn’t know they can grow their legs back or that non black widows eat their mates. I’ve also used terms like pedipalps, cephalothorax, or mentioned how to tell the difference between male and female spiders or mantises when casually talking about both, then I always have someone ask me to explain what I’m talking about.

My partner knew I liked insects and arachnids when we first got together, but I don’t think he realized how much until I built a raised bed garden and started taking lots of pictures of all the critters that show up. I have SO MANY pics of my green lynx spider friend.

  • I got my nails done. I’ve only had fake nails once, but I went to a wedding and I wanted to look nice. I got gel nails in dark blue with a cat eye finish. The ladies at the salon were super helpful and picked out a good color that matched my dress. It was awesome, but I don’t regularly pay $85+ for something that only lasts 2 weeks. I’ll get them removed in a week and get a basic manicure to help my nails recover.

They do look pretty fabulous though 💅

  • I’m bad at it and I get numbers mixed up pretty easily.

Example: I went to a pro sports game over the weekend. I sat 4 of us in the wrong row because I read the row number wrong. I saw row 12 but read row 15. I tend to mix up numbers like that often and then I get the answers to math problems wrong. This is highly frustrating to me and it makes me not like math very much.

  • A New! Nintendo 3DS XL because I did not like the form factor of my Nintendo 2DS (also an impulse buy). I bought a bunch of cheap games and I’ve been playing Pokemon Sun a bit.

Also bought an e-bike. I haven’t had a bike in a while and I used to walk around the neighborhood or to the store all the time. I moved to an area that the grocery store is pretty far to walk to and it’s very hilly. The e-bike is great for going up those hills. It’s a pedal assist (no throttle acceleration) and I try to minimize how much I use the actual assist so I can get a workout too. It’s been great and I’ve taken it to the grocery store and library a few times. I bought it when I did because I knew tariffs were going to affect the pricing. The company recently said they are raising prices due to tariffs, so I think it was a wise decision.
