Hi, it me.
If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any…
Quite literally what he said back in 2020.
I hope you’re right.
The first hurdle is getting over the fact that the US is huge and fragmented. Organizing a general strike so vast would be difficult, especially once you consider that any company, big or small, will have bootlickers, not just employers, that will actively work against you. Not a chance you could get more than 10% of the population on board. But, let’s say you get that far. Now you have the do everything “legally.”
Legally protesting is getting harder and harder to do. You have to strike in the right place, at the right time, in the right manner. Even then there’s a chance you get shut down with little ability for legal recourse without immense resources. Many protestors will likely end up in prison and many more will lose their jobs and probably homes. Trust me, the employers won’t care. There are thousands of applicants ready to take their place. But, if you can keep it going even after that, what happens next?
You might get a few “peace talks” that result in a 3-5% bump in wages, a stipend for childcare, and free coffee. Maybe some industries get a few small protections. There’s too much money from businesses flowing into Congress for anything more to happen.
And that’s that! You end up with wages that barely keep up with inflation, lots of people losing their jobs and homes, and most assuredly a more active and higher funded militarized police force than ever.
The days of American workers being able to make real change happen through striking are just gone.

God, why would I want to binge oligarchy?! /s
It’s largely reactionary. The world has seen a lot of progression in the last couple decades, but a lot of people aren’t feeling any benefits. In fact, many feel worse off because they see progressive policies as unfair to them. It’s always been a pendulum… My worry is that the pendulum seems to be swinging further to each side than we’ve seen in a long while. It’s really starting to feel like widespread unrest will give way to widespread uprising.
Turns out reading speed and retention is better with dark text on a light background. I always use automatic switching when available… Light during the day and dark at night.
Unless it’s my code editor, if someone switches my code editor to light mode I’ll murder them.
I genuinely spend too much time on that site, but I haven’t seen an ad in years. If that changes, then I guess I’ll have to change, too.
Fear of the defendant should not influence sentencing. That said, pretty minimal chance of jail time for this. Two-tier system and all that.
On the other hand, I didn’t sign up for Prime but have had it for 2 months now. Have yet to be charged and I can’t access the page to cancel it.
Grew up Reformed Christian and you hit the nail on the head… Or hand, or whatever.
You pay for these things with your data. If the government is paying for privacy-respecting storage or safe internet access, then so are you with your taxes. I’d vote for that, but I’d guess the majority of people would not.
And why wouldn’t they? 90% of the software people use daily is free (as in beer), so of course being told that’s going to change is going to cause upset. It takes a lot for people to want to pay money for something that, to those who don’t value free (as in freedom) software, is no different than the costless alternative.
Underuse IMO. We’ve grown complacent in so many regards.
That setting is now only available to accounts that meet certain criteria (subscribers, views, whatever), or so I’ve heard. Depending on the videos you frequent, they may or may not meet those criteria.
And yes, this means that if you’re a small channel Google can force you to show ads without giving you any of the revenue.
Even the memes here, which accounts for like 90% of the everything feed, are the same 3-5 ideas recycled in different formats. I agree with most of the people here, but I miss that I didn’t on Reddit.
Hadn’t thought about it like that. Thanks. I think this will become less of an annoyance over time, too. The more communities show up and get active, the more I subscribe to, then the more I’ll use my subscribe feed and therefore won’t see the duplicates.
Which… Why? There’s no karma to farm here, just post it once and let the conversation happen there.
No offense to anyone, but I’m down voting duplicates to try to stop this shit.
Podcasts in the car to and from work, and while at work (WordPress Developer) with wireless earbuds. I listen to music when I’ve gotten through my feed of podcasts or when reading a book. Lofi and classical are both great for listening while reading, but while coding I prefer high energy music like math rock or metalcore/mathcore.
Some of my top recommended podcasts:
I’ll admit that I was in that position, once. The difference is that when I did it I voted for McCain, not a failed actor and businessman with a clear plan to tear apart our democracy.
It’s great that people are waking up to this, but the damage is done. We’re going to all have to fight tooth and nail to stop and undo the damage, if we can at all. Hang on to your butts, people.
