berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do passkeys work across devices?3·1 year agoPasskeys should display a QR Code for you to scan with a trusted device if you try to use them on a device that doesn’t have your passkey stored.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the largest amount of partners you saw in a cookies consent question ?6·1 year agoRead something about 1’809 in an article lately:

berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you are someone who likes chocolate, what kind of chocolate do you like best?2·1 year agoI can literally buy the cheapest stuff in my grocerie store here and it still tastes somewhat decent… Shouldn’t have to be expensive. Making decent chocolate isn’t exactly rocket science. But hey we are talking about the US where fresh bread apparently still is kind of rare and most people eat Wonder Bread (why it’s even called bread is beyond me though…)
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you are someone who likes chocolate, what kind of chocolate do you like best?7·1 year agoAs a Swiss person who likes chocolate, that sounds disgusting 😱
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a bit of good advice that's really bad advice?2·1 year agoFair. I do that with most coworkers. I have one maybe two I consider friends and we do stuff outside if work. Those are the people that know me. Everyone else knows the work version of me.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a bit of good advice that's really bad advice?11·1 year agoCouldn’t agree more. I decided to become a chef as my career of choice after school, cause I liked cooking. Can’t remember me cooking at home once in the three years of my training and the year I worked the job afterwards. Now I love it again and cook (almost) exclusively for my wife and me.
Liking your job is cool but making your hobby your job and still keeping it as a hobby works out for a very small minority of people. For most it either destroys your hobby or you start resenting yout job.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is alcohol legal if it's much more harmful than marijuana?1·1 year agoYou buy some fruits (or grow them in the garden) and ferment them… how is that more involved than growing a canabis plant and dry it?
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Form over function, eh?English64·1 year agoThe bigger issue is that the US still alows Blinkers to be the same color as break lights. Just weird to me.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does the film press talk so much about box office income?31·1 year agoI think it’s even worse: If I’m curios and buy a ticket yet absolutely hate the film after seeing it, i still paid a ticket. So Ticket sales are absolutely unrelated to the quality of the movie.
I also just started to realize how out of touch most critics are with regular viewers (or me at least). Some films on IMDB have horrible critics reviews yet the user reviews are almost always higher or even quite decent.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•macOS users, kindly correct my misconceptions about the OS and the company7·1 year agoIf you don’t do anythithing very specific, iWork is just fine to and has been free for the last 11 Years. And most people probably don’t use Adobe’s Creative Suite (that’s paid on Windows just the same anyway)
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it possible I am intersex if I apparently have a very wide female pelvic bone and everything else is male?273·1 year agoBiology isn’t binary. I would stop looking for labels and just be you.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What non-SMS non-Apple app can I use to "text" my younger kid on their iPad20·1 year agoYou got a lot of good advice already. I just wanted to add: Do not share your Apple ID with someone. Always leads tk trouble, lost data and things that people see that shouldn’t have seen it.
If they are 10, use family sharing and create a Children Account for them. All the benefits, non of the issues.
Here’s how this works: https://www.apple.com/family-sharing/
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some small things we should change about the human body?202·1 year agoDefinetly periods, stupid design and incredibly rare in mamals anyway.
Also, a change of our metabolism, our current way to deal with excess energy is outdated. And maybe make us resistant to cancers, that shit sucks.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•The University of Wisconsin fired Chancellor Joe Gow. He says it's for making porn videos with his wife.18·2 years agoWaitwaitwait… They have a YouTube Channel where they COOK with Porn actirs? The headline read like they did porn themselves (which I wouldn’t have an issue with either). Are you kidding me?
It’s YT, and I‘m sure they wanna monetize it so it can’t be that graphic anyway, right?
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you guys cope with the fact that the world isn't getting any better?1512·2 years agoI‘d highly recommend the follwoing book:
The Better Angels of our Nature by Steven Pinker https://books.apple.com/ch/book/the-better-angels-of-our-nature/id457552067?l=en-GB
While it might seem that the world is getting worse and worse, it’s actually quite the opposite. We have less war deaths than any centuries before, social justice is on the rise almost everywhere, poverty is at an all time low. For the last 50 or so years, almost every metric of human wellbeing increased, some significantly.
Doesn’t mean there aren’t any problems and we still have a lot of work to layed out for us. But to say that the world is getting worse and worse is just factually incorrect.
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you guys cope with the fact that the world isn't getting any better?32·2 years agoIt’s just no longerna pandemic, it got endemic and is now more or less like the flu in terms of death rate and infections and it would be lower if we wouldn’t still have morons refusing any vaccine cause they think cellphone towers will then spy on them -.-
berkeleyblue@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•There is no limit of ferality for these people, this is what happens when you follow a 7th century death cultEnglish2145·2 years agoAnd the 1 century death cult is better in what way exactly? Just wanna remind you that those modesty rules where prevalent in Christianity as well as. Maybe not always to the same degree but the church had very interesting thoughts about woman wearing pants or showing their ankles.
If you are religious, no matter the denomination, you‘d better not be poking fun at other religions for their quirks. Yours is just as silly and baseless as the others.
Also, not all muslims follow those strict rules just as very few christians would still shun you for eating shrimp or living with someone before marriage.
Also the country that still predominantly runs on coal for its power grid… one would think they have bigger fish to fry. EVs are a net positive after about 40’000km compared to ICE Cars. (Even faster depending on the source of charging)
