A lot of companies have managed password services. If Doug from HR gets locked out at 2AM on a Tuesday night, they can reach out to the 24/7 support instead of calling me.

It’s an open standard. As long as the hardware still physically works. The only reason these pieces of hardware are EOL is because they chose to lock them down.

It’s also worth mentioning that the VPN in question, Proton, offers one of the best free tiers of any VPN company.
