I think this is intentional. They want you to take time looking at the pictures so you might think “you know what, actually I’d like some of those fries as well” by making it hard to just quickly select what you want and leave.
I wouldn’t even be surprised if there’s a psychological effect where you feel like ordering more makes this tedious ordering process more worthy. I mean why go through 2 minutes of clicking and waiting just for one stupid cheeseburger.
amelia@feddit.deto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•A fresh install of Signal takes up 410MB, blowing both Firefox and Chromium out of the waterEnglish21·1 year agoAnd anytime you clicked on a link or image in the chat, you’ll have to click into the message field again (or press Ctrl+t) to be able to type a reply. I don’t understand how this absolutely infuriating thing hasn’t been fixed in years. Is nobody bothered by this? I want to be able to alt+tab into signal and just start typing ffs.
amelia@feddit.deto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most recurring theme/element in your nightmares?6·1 year agoFor me it’s having to make an emergency call and the person on the other end either just won’t listen properly, ignore me, not understand me, act in a weird way, or the call has technical problems like there is no reception where I am and I have to run around forever to find signal or a different phone.
I have no idea where that comes from, I’ve never even made an emergency call.
And 3 is obviously on the right side of a clock and 9 on the left so the debate is settled.

I mean even if it’s an accident, you’re obliged to stop and help, aren’t you? Is that just a Europe thing? I’m not American, but it would seem like a very basic rule to agree on.
amelia@feddit.deto Videos@lemmy.world•Dashcam footage clears man of felony charge after showing constable injuring himself321·1 year agoWait, wait, wait. When the video starts showing the constable, he is already holding his leg out in front of him, as if to force the driver to stop. No kicking motion can be seen in the video. So it’s legal to just hit someone who is holding his leg out in front of your car (however stupid that may be), injure him seriously and then just drive away?!

What do you choose?1·1 year agoTo be fair, it wasn’t a completely serious answer to the question. I do really believe what I said but I’m aware that Lynch isn’t for everyone.

Not only is it the best movie ever made, it also has everything: love, romance, crime, horror, humor, action, mystery, …

It’s a pretty specific demand when bluetooth headphones have become really good and actually have a lot of advantages compared to wired ones. Also there is always the option to use a USB C dongle so it’s really not that big of a deal.
amelia@feddit.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Fairbuds are Fairphone’s proof that we really could make better tiny gadgetsEnglish1910·1 year agoThey explain very thoroughly on their website why they did it:

amelia@feddit.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Homeowner baffled after washing machine uses 3.6GB of internet data a dayEnglish2·1 year agoIt is mine. There is a room with each tenant’ washing machine in the basement and that is a typical situation in Germany.
amelia@feddit.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Homeowner baffled after washing machine uses 3.6GB of internet data a dayEnglish3·1 year agoNot trying to defend stupid internet connectivity but my washing machine is in the basement in a shared laundry room while I live on the second floor of the apartment building. No way I’ll hear it beep so a notification would be very useful actually. This is a very common situation in Europe where a lot of people live in rental apartments.
The problem is rather that there needs to be WiFi access in the laundry room.

amelia@feddit.deto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there any medicine that can give me happy hormones and does not need a doctor's prescription?673·1 year agoVitamin D3 is a good idea, generally the recommendation is 1000 IU a day. Especially now after the winter (assuming you’re in the Northern hemisphere) your vitamin D storage is probably depleted (the body needs a certain amount of UV radiation on the skin to produce vitamin D.
Regular exercise has been proven to help against depression and I think it’s probably the best and most important thing you can do. While helping your depression it will also help your general health and fitness.
Eat well: lots and lots of veggies, legumes and whole grain products. If unhealthy food makes you happy, don’t cut it from your diet completely. Allow yourself to eat sweets etc every once in a while and in moderation, but try to have a very healthy diet as a basis.
These things are probably hard to implement when you’re depressed in the first place but I guarantee you they’ll help and become easier as you go if you consistently stick to them. It takes about 66 days on average to build new habits. So if you manage to stick to it for about 2-3 months, it will become a lot easier.
Good luck!
My dreams are not unlike yours
They long for the safety
And break like a glass chandelier
But there’s laughter and oh, there is love
Just past the edge of our fears
And there’s chaos when push comes to shove
But it’s music to my ears
Wow, this actually sounds very plausible.
