  • I actually have this thing. The knife thing is annoying and it just sits on the back acting as a brace for the dishsoap bottle. The cutting board rack is kinda dumb because it just dries onto your counter.

But the baskets are nice because they drain into the sink. It was a really cheap kitchen improvement purchase I don’t regret.

What it needs though are raised rubber gasket lined feet so it doesn’t hold bits of water under the base you have to lift and wipe up. It’s cheap material and easily modified.

  • As an adult with a family: Yes, but nothing like when I was younger. The biggest shift for me primarily was to games that are not competitive or multiplayer.

I can’t do the 25-60 minute intense gaming sessions with or against other players. I have to be able to stop everything I am doing at a moment’s notice. I feel bad having to drop on people.

Also I can’t do the FPS games now because I’m old and my eyes just can’t anymore.

  • I said this in another thread about this article: They’re just flatly dividing the 1.3 billion total budget that was allocated over the years by the 6,300 number of homeless counted in 2023.

This budget likely includes programs serving homeless populations as a whole and its staffing, administration, etc. Given the time period this likely includes program funding that started, and then ended, with special funding local health juridictions recieved during covid.

Source: worked in the region in question in a local health juridiction through covid. Cutting programs and keeping police sweeps didn’t help the homeless but it tended to satiate the local businesses and residences impactes.

  • Part of my 2025 mental and physical health plan has been building and landscaping my little slice of land to go from an unfenced hillside of lawn to a walled and terraced garden.

Removed the sod and got a dumptruck load of granite stones at the start of the year. I am building using a dry stone technique and moving it all by hand on purpose. Currently finishing the main terraces and wall base, beginning raised garden beds now. Every day I move a couple stones into place and it feels like an accomplishment that is quite literally building on itself.

I look forward to seeing how it (continues to) come together.

  • To be honest I had not explored the possibility a great deal on how the transmission would matter in conversion. I know a few companies had explored simulated gearboxes and transmissions for their vehicles, and that was about as deep as my understanding was.

I assumed the transmission and gearbox had utility in EV but it does appear less important. Most conversions from what I saw essentially lock the vehicle in a gear.

Still I feel like there’d be energy to save utilizing those components, but the benefit seems outweighed by the effort. I am no EV expert after all.

  • I have considered putting a banner like this on my old manual compact. I get post-it notes and flyers asking me to sell every other month.

Yeah the window seals are going moss, but I’ll convert that thing to EV before selling, and I’m seriously considering conversion.

Manual transmission EV would be nice…
