To expand on that further, the reasons why we don’t import US beef are 1. we produce more than enough for ourselves and 2. most importantly we do not have mad cow disease in Australia, whereas the US does. US beef is a biosecurity risk, which we take very seriously.
our federal pharmaceutical procurement thing
It’s called the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, and it’s basically the government being the single buyer for pharmaceuticals and then subsidising the cost to Australians. Big pharma hates it because if the government thinks they’re ripping us off we just won’t buy it and they’ll basically be shut out of the Australian market. The government also will only buy drugs that are proven to be effective, so they can’t unload useless junk or derivatives that are more expensive but otherwise the same
I tip my fedora hat to you kind gentlesir! Updoots to the left!
Fucking bullshit, but entirely unsurprising that a cop gets away with a slap on the wrist for something that would put anyone else away behind bars. NSW has never truly moved on from the Rum Corp
Firstly, the USA is obviously not a “dictatorship”.
You sure about that? Have you read the news lately?
DankChristianMemes. Was just fantastic. Perhaps the best ‘neutral’ ground I ever saw for Christians & Atheists to laugh at themselves & each other.
It’s a bit quiet though
The exact same thing happened on January 6th. They initially expressed disapproval and dismay, but once the “it was just a riot, bro” narrative caught on all dissent vanished. They’d received their marching orders so they no longer had to face the terrifying prospect of actually having to think for themselves.
It’s been one hell of a year, right?
Captain, it’s been a month!

The pinnacle of Australian culture
I would rather smear human shit in my eyes than watch it.
Also the problem of relying on a nation state to allow these certificates to be issued in the first place. A repressive regime could simply refuse to give its citizens a certificate, which would effectively block them from access to a platform that required them.
No, they’re negative.
Exactly. What do you want him to do? Attempt a coup to stay in power? Americans voted for this and nobody is coming to save you.
Because fuck you, who’s going to stop him?
Only the good die young unfortunately.
If he’d ever actually parented any of his children he’d have already experienced that at least once.
Yeah, I am not reading this shit again. I will not reward the complicit media with clicks and attention for their part in getting him re-elected.
And being part of the Commonwealth, we still have the monarch as the head of state but have Governer Generals who perform the monarchs roles when they are not about.
This is true of Australia, but having the British monarch as head of state is not a requirement for Commonwealth membership - there are a few members that have their own heads of state.
Australia didn’t rebel like those dastardly yanks. We became an independent country in 1901.
Expanding on this a bit, while Australia did become its own country in 1901 our legal system was still linked to the British one and the British parliament could legislate for Australia until the Australia Act 1986 was passed, which cut all remaining legal and legislative ties to the UK leaving only the monarch as head of state.
In Westminster parliamentary systems the opposition is the largest party or coalition that is not the governing majority party/coalition. There can be other parties or individual members in the parliament that are not part of the government or opposition, in Australia they are known collectively as the crossbench (referring to how they are seated on the benches between the government and opposition benches in the parliament chamber).
