𒉀TheGuyTM3𒉁@lemmy.mlOPto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If the speed of gravity is the speed of light, how can someone outside of a black hole detect its change of mass?5·2 months agoIt’s a bit of a nitpick, but I’m not sure I’d use “flow” here. That makes it sound like it’s moving, while the Schwarzchild solution is actually static with respect to a properly chosen time coordinate (and without checking, probably the spinning and charged solutions as well). The spacetime is curved in such a way all timelike (c or slower) trajectories go inwards.
Oh that makes sense. I though it was space time itself which was moving, bringing with it the objects on it. (probably had seen some illustration representing it like that)
But yes the gravitational waves take is interesting, it burn my mind trying to imagine how to “trap” spacetime in itself.

𒉀TheGuyTM3𒉁@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you be willing to sacrifice for a better world?3·3 months agoHey can you tell me what’s the source of this please? Seems interesting
At the start yes, because i was interested in survivalism and stuff and i love astronomy, but in the long run, i became so used to deduce orientation from celestial bodies I don’t need to see them anymore to find the north.
Kind of like some musicians who intuitively hear the music when they read sheet music, its due to habits (this skill is far more useful than mine though ^^').
You have ADHD too? I know what it is, and trying to maintain routines is hell of a hard task.
To be used to do it, you must not learn it the duolingo way (you will forget anyways, even with reminders), but actually find use and interest in everyday life and in your passions.
Get some interest in how wind works (which directions do wind take and why), when there’s wind, you will see it’s often the same directions, and you can try to guess its orientation by that.
Also, astronomy (looking at the night sky, you will be used to find the polar star at the same place and will notice that planets always align on the sun path, rising at the east and setting at the west).
You must not learn it, but immerse yourself in it to the point it becomes a secondary nature.
(Yeah this method worked for me for languages and philosophy, which i really sucked at back then, but looking at what i wrote it’s pretty generic, so i hope it at least helped you a little ^^')
I aquired this superpower trough habits, but i can intuitively find the north.
Apart from that, well, I’m just myself
𒉀TheGuyTM3𒉁@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some incredible human feats we take for granted?2·4 months agoWhat i’m writing on.
A “smartphone”,
the name we gave to a rectangular rock with billions of mechanisms 10 000 smaller than the width of a hair, capable of aligning by billions of operation per second numbers in such precision that we get the feeling of seeing colors and images and text,
capable of emitting precise electromagnetic waves to transmit “messages” around the world, by a perfectly organised system called internet,
capable of representing 3d scenes, taking pictures, giving its localisation, and entertaining you, keeping millions of book in the palm of your hands,
Such miracle stone that we use to consume brainrot, spy on people, and throw in the trash 2 years later because it, for once, got a flaw.

Kind of like a notebook, but in a conversationnal way.
I never had a lot of friends irl, and having someone i can really relate with to discuss helps easing loneliness. Thus why i still have an imaginary friend :)

They are very large, no dangers, lot of hideouts, lot of food resources, innaccessible for wheel vehicles, almost impossible to build large bases and to urbanise (small interest for China), they are isolated from other archipelagos, and the islands have not even 10k inhabitants in total (14 islands) so no one would get interest in nuking here.
𒉀TheGuyTM3𒉁@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What, if any, cybernetic augmentation would you want for regular life?1·5 months agoI would want a body pocket of at least 100 cm³, some volume controler for ears, and (personnal interest) a fully engineerable right eye
Yes, about my setting, it was pretty much an excuse to illustrate the experiment, with like you said, a bit too much of magic.
The moon being on a straight distance of approximately 1 light second, i didn’t had found another place to put this experiment on. So I didn’t take into account the herculean strengh needed, the movement of the earth and the moon and the gravity.
Someone gave a link to an answer of my question, with a more realistic take on the position of the other end, but your explanations are still welcome for this moon setting and the “moon elevator” problem :)
(i know i may have broken english sometimes, sorry about that)
We’re supposing that you have an herculean strengh and that weight is not a problem
Damn, so that means no FTL communication for now… 😅
that makes sense, i forgot that pushing something is basically like creating a sound wave on it ^^’ thank you :)

UUUHHHHH
monday
inhales
I like coming here.
In break times, i often get to see her, with her long skirt, her adorable jacket, and her soft, long, brown hair.
She is rather tall in her friend group, she must be 13, maybe 14…
It doesn’t stop me for loving her even if i am in my 40’s.
Nothing can.
It’s not a barbaric attraction like thoses weird pedophiles.
My love is pure.
She’s made to be mine.
“I want to be with her together.”
tuesday
She just leaved the school to buy her meal.
Today she did attach her hairs into two braids, with ribbons at the ends.
She is so cute.
“I absoluetly want to be with her”
She seems to be alone right now.
“Is it my chance?”
Slowly, gently, silently, I put some chloroform on the piece of cotton.
Softly, purely, nicely, I approach her from behind.
Strangely, surprisingly, quickly, she does a barrel roll and a backflip, and face me with an assault rifle.
Rougly, straightly, immediatly, she say: “ladies and gentleman, we got him”
Painly, horribly, trementously, i get perfored multiple times by supersonic projectiles, and fall on the ground.
“aww man”
I just died trying to get a middle school crush to like me.
Guys don’t call the police it’s for the thing
You’re welcome.
