I was a Why don’t you fucking protest!?-guy here on Lemmy and I am not, anymore. It takes time to organize. This is beautiful, I’m proud of you. Keep it up!

No, they do not. There is no serious study to suggest that they do. Plants do not have a brain or central nervous system. At most, they respond to stimuli. If you really care that much about the welfare of plants, you should go vegan, since many more plants “die” for animal feeding. Do you feel bad while mowing your lawn? And would you rather rescue a potted plant than a dog from a burning house? Is docking pig tails the same as branch trimming to you? Question upon question…

Punch a tiny hole in the neck of an empty 0,33ml PET plastic bottle. You can use a drill, a needle or a corkscrew. Fill it with water and squeeze it to spray your ass, vulva, whatever clean.

If it breaks, someone will come and repair it. But subscription for software is a scam. I switched to open source solutions because fuck’em, that’s why! Breaking up with Adobe is pretty great. :)

Teppichbrand@feddit.orgto News@lemmy.world•Kids born today are going to grow up in a hellscape, grim climate study finds1·1 month agoOh, I absolutely want corporations to pay for what they do to us and our childrens lifes! And I agree recycling is (mostly) a scam. But stop eating animals is not a distraction from systemic change, it fuels it. Animal Agriculture is a vile industry build on exploitation and destruction, the evidence is only a click away if you dare to look at it. And you, Lobotomo, pay this industry daily to keep going. Destroying ecosystems, polluting communities, exploiting workers, killing sentient being by the billions. You could exclude your family from this today, but you deliberately choose not to. I’m asking you to take the most obvious babystep out of the global suicide machine. It’s a big FUCK YOU to Corporate Farming as well, and everybody likes that. :)
I know it’s not the solution, I’m not an idiot. Please keep fighting, you can do both! But no solution will be enough without us changing what we eat.
Teppichbrand@feddit.orgto News@lemmy.world•Kids born today are going to grow up in a hellscape, grim climate study finds1·1 month agoThis doomer attitude will get us nowhere, it drags everyone into apathy and indifference. Your politicians like you like that. But every decimal warming counts. Please give meaning to your existence and stand for something. Not because your impact is so great, but because it’s the right thing to do. Don’t just roll on your back and give up just because you like cheese too much.
Teppichbrand@feddit.orgto News@lemmy.world•Kids born today are going to grow up in a hellscape, grim climate study finds1·1 month agoI try, but it is hard! Eating lentils instead of animal tissue for protein is very easy. Putting soy milk in your porridge instead of udder milk is very easy. You just buy a product that tastes slightly different next time you go shopping. BÄM! ⅔ less co2 emissions, water pollution and land use from your meal. Well done! It’s the single most powerful thing you can do effortlessly by yourself.

Teppichbrand@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?1·2 months agoI used to say that when I was younger. But power vacuums fill up fast with brutal assholes. It took us centuries come up with ideas to balance power and obviously we’re not done yet. But abolishing hierarchies will lead to utter chaos. There is no species without it.
States are a mistake though, I agree with that. :)

I’m going to quote Erich Kästner again:The events from 1933 to 1945 should have been combated by 1928 at the latest. Later it was too late. We must not wait until the fight for freedom is called treason. We must not wait until the snowball has turned into an avalanche. The rolling snowball must be crushed. No one can stop the avalanche. It only comes to rest when it has buried everything beneath it.
Erich Kästner, 1958
