Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•PERCHANCE QUESTION New faces too much the same?? HALP!201·7 days agoThere are a lot of people in this community, as well as lemmy as a whole, who are very anti genAI. From the environmental impact, to the ip infringement, to the honestly just shit output, it has not got a good reputation here.
You’re best of using a photo or art done by real people - either your own, commissioned from an artist, or publicly available stuff. If you’re adamant on using genAI, you’ll get better answers from a community specific to ai.
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there anywhere in the world that you visited previously that you'd like to return to if time and costs permit? Why?71·8 days agoI went to Europe when I was 11, but now that I’m an adult and have an appreciation for history I’d love to go back. Me and my fiance have talked about traveling at some point. The main destinations are Ireland and Scotland, because our families are from there

Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you immediately judge a person for when you see them wearing or have?141·19 days agoA ute with no mud on it. Either it’s brand new, or they have no idea what the point of a ute is, so they bought an overpriced car which is worse for them than an average station wagon
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your advice for someone driving their first manual transmission car?2·23 days agoOr if you know a farmer, a paddock is also a good option
Hard disagree. I can’t think of anything less short signed or selfish than raising a generation to be better than the previous
For sure. I’m getting married in about 6 months, and we’ve already agreed we want to have kids, but that we don’t want them right away.
Tabletop/party games? How big is the group? I could probably recommend half a dozen games for any group size up to 20
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?331·1 month agoHonestly, princess bride. I’m usually not all that into rom com type movies, but princess bride is a masterpiece
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you watch the end credits in video games?6·1 month agoUsually only if there’s something good as part of the credits (eg. Portal 1 & 2)
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why did gandhi ask britain to seek peace with nazi germany?52·1 month agoI’m just saying I wouldn’t mind hearing what Jeffery epstien would say over the clean air act
Not what I’m saying. My point is that one flaw, even one as terrible as pedophilia, doesn’t influence all of a person’s opinions. Sure, I wouldn’t ask Gandhi for his views on healthy relationships, and having learned about this I have lost pretty much all respect for him as a person. But his opinions on international politics should be reasonable because of his role as a leader of a protest movement, and likely aren’t impacted by him being a pedo.
With your Epstien example, is there reason to think his opinions on climate science are more well informed than the average person’s? Do you think his role of running his pedo island would impact his views on topics like the clean air act?
The trouble with your line of thinking is that we’d run out of acceptable people’s opinions really quickly. No one is perfect, and it will usually be possible to frame someone’s flaws in a way that makes them a horrible person in all aspects and never worth hearing out. When it gets to “Bob is a racist, Jim is a pedo, Fred is a domestic abuser” (to be clear, in not saying these are equally bad or anything, just some examples of ‘this person is inherently bad because of one thing’) and so on about everyone, who’s left to be worth discussing things with?
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why did gandhi ask britain to seek peace with nazi germany?811·1 month agothe dude was a pedo
How is that related to his opinions on international politics? Just because someone is terrible in one aspect of their life, doesn’t mean the rest of their ideas have to be thrown out.
No rolls barred on YouTube did a video on hard mode pictionary. You could use some of those ideas.
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many languages can you say Please and Thank You in?8·3 months agoTwo languages. English and Maori.
Thank you in Maori is “kia ora” (key-ah or-ah, but mostly said more like k-your-ah). Literally translates to “be well”, kia meaning be, ora meaning life/wellness.
Please in Maori is a bit less clear. There is the word “koa” (I don’t know how to phonetically write it, but all the letters are pronounced the same as above), but that’s a concept that came with pakeha (European settlers). Before that, it was more about the tone of the request.
Edit: actually I do know more, but English and Maori are the two main languages I know any of.
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is you opinion on the parents who tell their kids to "keep your head down" and "don't cause troubles" such as "being a dissident" or "going to protests"?5·3 months agoWhile I can see where they’re coming from. I’m sure they want you to just be safe.
That said, it’s a terrible idea. How will anyone know how many people hate the current government, if no one speaks up about it. Sure, it can be risky, and the governments most worth speaking up against are usually the ones where it’s the most dangerous, but they’re usually the ones that more people hate.

How come?English10·3 months agoIt sounds backwards, but I like driving because it’s a time when I can’t scroll or play games. I drive to the next town over (about an hour’s drive) 2 or 3 times most weeks. It’s a good chance for me to listen to something, or just ponder. I’ve been listening to the Bible over that drive more often lately.
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I'm a straight guy who wants to be cute, not handsome. Can I still be attractive despite choosing to be unmanly?22·3 months agoI see no issue here. A man can absolutely be ‘cute’ without being any less of a man. Masculinity isn’t about rugged looks, strength, dominance, or any of that shit. It’s about self confidence (not arrogance, just being comfortable being yourself) and giving to others, both of which you seem to do well.
Honestly, I’m surprised you haven’t found a partner to match you yet.
Mr Fish@lemmy.worldto [Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•What games have you played lately?English2·3 months agoFactorio, elden ring, and slay the spire.
Factorio is just good, and it’s my favorite game of all time.
In elden ring, I’ve been trying out a new build that I call the “harmacist” build. Power stance thrusting swords, and a bunch of status buildup on both for giving the enemies their “medication”.
In slay the spire I’ve recently reached ascension 20 on the defect, but haven’t quite managed to beat it yet.
Board games. Either just standard board games and chat while you play, or something like wavelength, that’s a question, or herd mentality to actually get to know people through the game.
