What a hopeless take. A governments role is literally to do things that individuals can’t - roads, schools, moon landings, etc.
Use of force against its own people is self harm and should not be something a government does.

If we got rid of IP law now, without changing anything else in society, it would massively reduce the ability to earn a living from creative work, making humanity that much duller.
I agree in the long run IP law sucks, but there’s so much in our society that needs to be fixed before killing IP law could do more good than harm.
We are cursed to live in a society where most grown ass adults still believe in magic.
Texan here. The boycott will help! The worse it is for America now, the better we’ll all be in the long run. Make Americans remember that we’re part of a global community.
I feel so bad for SpaceX engineers. If you grew up dreaming of space, you learn the math and science, and end up with that piece of shit as the figurehead for all your work.
As a Texan, I have to agree, it’d be for the best.
Shout out to Bevy engine. It’s like if you took Unity DOTS and actually made it work.
This is just pressure on the business folks, not the devs.
I’m a game dev of 20 years and I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a dev with that sort of scammy inclination. On the business side of things though…
I do not, source?
Not that I don’t believe you, but if we’re gonna hate on this guy even more, we should make sure it’s for facts.
“No employees — be they the people who answer customer calls or nurses who visit patients in their homes — should have to fear for their and their loved ones’ safety,” Witty wrote.
There’s something we can all agree on. Executive fear though…
I am an autistic person with an autistic child. “Therapies” that try to get us to act like you should be illegal. And stupid, we evolved as part of humanity for a reason.
I masked my whole life, I don’t want my kid to be forced to as well.
Cure ableism not Autism.
Alternate title: “3/4s of grown-ass adults still believe in magic”
What you’re describing is the holy grail of computer memory technology. If we had nonvolatile memory as fast as RAM, we would absolutely be using it instead. Unfortunately even the fastest SSD today would be a significant drop in speed from modern RAM.
What would the world look like if we fragmented the tech giants but then regulated them by requiring open standards so that things could mix and match as customers see fit?
If you’re in the mood for something more story based, I just played Disco Elysium on my deck and it was incredible. I’m currently slow burning my way through BG3 on it which is also a good experience but it requires some fiddling to get it running nicely.
Most of the stories involving the three laws of robotics are about how those rules are insufficient.
They show self preservation because we trained them on human data and human data includes the assumption of self preservation.
