  • You can get concentrated permetherin, mix with water and apply with spray bottle to cotton clothes/socks. It bonds to the fiber and keeps the ticks off. Lasts several washes, longer if you don’t dry clothes with heat.

Much cheaper to buy the concentrate instead of the premix.

Spray outside, allow clothes to dry outside. Stuff is pretty much harmless to humans. When still wet or in concentrate, it is absolutely deadly to cats. After it has bonded to your clothes, it won’t hurt the cats. Doesn’t work if you apply it to your skin, the skin oils or something deactivate it.

Haven’t had a tick in years since I started using it.

  • That is completely reasonable and the person you’re screaming at is Canadian. 16 year olds are perfectly capable of being responsible with long guns like a .22 rifle. This depends on the kid and the parents.

If you are a vegan and a pacifist on ethical grounds, I get it. But, hunting is a like a basic human thing. View the gun as a neat but dangerous tool that requires training.

We’re talking about traditional patterns of rural gun use you even find all over Europe. These are not AR-15 killer sewing machines, they’re old school long guns with most of them not even being semi-automatic.

  • Used to be that way here as well. Gun nuts existed but even most of the right thought they were crazy and pathetic.

Grew up in the deep south. Guns were a tool, back then. Most people didn’t own a handgun, those that did tended to have one or two. .38 special and a .22 pistol for plinking. Like other tools they are toys as well so people like guns and have a lot of fun with them. Seeing them as weapons to kill people was a distant afterthought other than safety considerations.

Most gun owners had only long guns. .22 for small game and plinking, scoped bolt or lever 30-06 for larger game. Several gauge of shotguns for different types of hunting and skeet shooting.

Live in a blue/purple state now. Our home is an old farmhouse. My study has a gun rack built in to the closet original to the house. It is sized to fit that use pattern and fits my family like a glove.

I gotta go check my groundhog traps, cute little fuckers destroy foundations and you aren’t even allowed to catch and release, by law you are supposed to dispatch and not relocate. I dispatch with a long barrel .22 revolver.

  • I thought about giving a line-by-line of phrases that twig me out, but I don’t want to help you mask the language. I will say that using a phrase like, Western Complicity,™ is a huge tell that you are being fed garbage or have a handler.

The actual left of the US doesn’t like the Democrats either. We just don’t have any other choice. That’s American left 101.

Also, very common among American and western left in general: all governments suck. Yours does, mine does. To hold power at the higher levels of government means that person is almost certainly corrupt. Also, people are people. If there’s an Us and Them, it’s Us the people against the small group hoarding power and wealth. Just like it’s always been.

All major world powers have committed genocides as far as I know. America - start with the Indians, throw in AIDS and gay men, and there are a bunch more. England - India. French - pick an African country. Russia - Ukraine, more than once. China - Uyghr and Buddhists.

Here’s a thought. All this genocide enabling you think you see in people like me. I moved my family halfway across the country after saving for years because I was afraid of what might be coming. The rhetoric is the same as pre-war Germany. I fear genocide much closer to home.

So, at the end of the day, the Palestinian genocide is a horror that words break down on. Like all genocides. Still, it’s shocking that so many Jewish people support this after the Holocaust. Hope it doesn’t happen here.
