Lifted_lowered@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Its not wrong thoughEnglish1·2 years agoYou could like make a simple accumulator machine out of logic gates and enter binary instructions expressed in hexadecimal into its register to program it, yeah, but it’s not capable of all the operations of a computer. But yes the first programming was just op codes, switches flipped or punch cards, there was no assembly language. But assembly language is pretty much just mnemonics for operations and registers. Like I had to write a couple C programs in school and use GNU C compiler to disassemble them into x86 assembly and see what it was doing on that level, then we “wrote” some x86 assembly by copypasting a lot of instructions but its not that hard to make something that works in like x86 assembly or like Jasmin (Java virtual machine assembly language) if it’s simple enough.

I’ve seen more ads for alcohol than ever in my lifeEnglish12·2 years agoIf you don’t block ads and you type things into searches about alcohol you will indeed get a lot of alcohol ads. The thing is though, I never got them as frequently when I was still drinking, or maybe never noticed them. Also I once got served ads for beer on a page about quitting booze lol, it seems pretty intentional even though it’s most likely not that targeted.

Lifted_lowered@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic since11·2 years agoThis is basically it, we just need better hardware in android tablets and maybe more optimization, Google is trying with tensor but it is a ways off.
Lifted_lowered@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic since11·2 years agoAgreed about the software. I wish we had a base Android tablet with the same hardware as the iPad Pro.
Lifted_lowered@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic sinceEnglish21·2 years agoTrue, that was poor word choice. I guess it would just be “operability?” Or “integration?”
Lifted_lowered@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic sinceEnglish21·2 years agoSheer processing power, stylus compatibility, and interoperability with computers of the same brand, which Samsung does too. I want an Android tablet that has as good a stylus and CPU speeds, then I would be right on it, because Android is a superior mobile OS in many ways. I loved my Nexus 7 and my ASUS Transformer but they just weren’t there yet.

I loved that thing. I still use Pixel phones but I caved and bought an iPad. Even the Pixel tablet can’t compare.

They are like the anti Amazon in terms of shipping for religious reasons, given their observance of shabbos they don’t ship on Saturdays at all. Good to know that their warehouse staff has a weekend day off to rest.
