You’re probably right. The last time I saw Firefly get brought up, there were many comments of people just shitting on it.

Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is palantir in lord of the rings / tolken, and what does that fortell about the dystopian company palantir?8·10 days agoOnly the LoTR books. In the earlier time periods they’re very much a tool of the “good guys” to communicate.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you stand by your significant other if they became a dictator?1·11 days agoI suppose it would depend on what I get out of it.

Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which book(s) left a lasting impression on you?4·14 days agoThe Lord of The Rings. This book changed reading for me. I always enjoyed fantastical themes, but this one really got me. Then, I found out there was more. More background, more world building, more why.
I’ve never turned back. I re read it occasionally and I’ve read much of Tolkien’s other works. Next on the list is to begin working through The History of Middle Earth. I will be starting this in the fall. It may take me quite some time to get through.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think is the biggest issue with Lemmy?7·17 days agoIt’s just as bad of an echo chamber as other sites. I have to actively “stop” browsing lemmy after a bit because I get annoyed at the repetitive nature of everything.
I’ve very much tried in the last few years to limit social media. I think it’s been a benefit for me. I like social media, but having “stops” makes it more enjoyable and prevents the doom feelings.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How has standing or standing-sitting vs sitting while working affected your life?4·2 months agoFor me it’s a difference but I’d say it’s minor as for as what I can truly tell. I’m more comfortable now that I can sit or stand when I want. Sometimes I’m restless so being able to stand and easily move while I work feels good.

Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What home-cooked meal do you frequently make and still enjoy?3·2 months agoTostadas. Make them with seasoned ground beef/chicken, chopped lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and salsa if I have it on hand (usually I do). Delicious every time. Easy to make and filling. Will also add beans if I have them.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which TV show do you watch again and again?13·2 months agoThe Office.
I throw it on in the background constantly.
You really sped up there for a quick minute!
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a book that you will gladly read again?2·3 months agoJust because this is the first post that I see that mentions LoTR, I’ll throw in
The Silmarillion
Children of Hurin
Beren and Luthien (personal favorite)
The Fall of Gondolin (incomplete, but incredible)
These are all Tolkien works and I could read them over and over.

I have two lemmyn accounts and I can’t completely separate them in the app. The settings bleed over across accounts and even the recently viewed area shows things from both accounts.
I don’t like that. I wonder if it’s settings or if it’s something the dev is looking into.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative" - What do you think when you hear that?3·4 months agoLook, I think there is something to it, but you really have to give details. I’m good with free access to healthcare, good with people marrying whoever they want (over the age of 18), transgender rights, etc.
All of that. I love it all. But I’d rather not be taxed to hell and have those funds horribly mis managed. I’m okay with taxes but I know there is so much waste with my funds. That’s where I’d like improvement. I suppose in some eyes that would make me slightly fiscally conservative.
Lizardking13@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I've only used Sync for Lemmy. What am I missing out on?2·4 months agoI’ve been using summit since my earlier comment. I have to say this is the closest to my experience with sync yet.
I like it. Just need to work out some of the settings, but it appears this will do for me.
For me, it’s the best place for quick sports updates. Many writers have moved to bluesky, but many more have not. Sports Twitter is the sole reason I use it.
