Yes. Cooperatives = co-ops. Let the workers (and possibly users) elect management and what to invest profits into.

But what if the magnets reprogram your brain to just not notice thee differences? Ever think of that? Obviously you can only question the infernal power of the heliomagnetism while wearing a tinfoil hat.
Easy. Nationalize social media and turn them into democratic cooperatives with the mandate to enforce strict moderation on hate speech.
In the article they say it’s likely a femicide, gender based violence. Misogyny is hatred of women - especially when they are not obedient or leave a man. So nothing really new.
What is new is social media and neoliberal control for profit, and a complete lack of accountability and moderation to stem the tide of hate speech.
Shhhh! Isn’t MAGA basically reading uplifting news to decide what next to destroy?
Hakas will continue until morale improves
To be fair, the FDA was incompetent / hamstrung in many other areas before. The overriding purpose was to increase profit.
They, at least they are trying something new :D
The F-droid app is complete garbage, also they don’t make it easy to install apps that are open source but don’t follow GPL. Obtainium is perfect, just point to git repository. Now all we need is a P2P source control service.
If you imagine some kind of multi year “relationship education” instead of just sex ed where all kids at ~14 learn about pathological psychology and all the ways people can manipulate you or fuck you over I imagine it would be far less off a problem.
No somthing more than just “mere” syntax highlightinng or prettifying like e.g. in VS Code. Being able to change line height for a “headline” when you declare a new class. Or maybe lines that illustrate how a temp variable is used. But it’s all vague ideas and I can’t picture or describe it well and you’d have to demo this with a graphical design tool I think.
Is there some language or “syntax formatter” that turns source code into something more off a visual programming language? Like a WYSIWYG markdown editor.
Like python doesn’t have curly braces, but you could add some kind of “block illustration”.
Or you could have illuminated initials for variable names to make them more unique.
Yeah neoliberals… the reason they want that is to get cheap laborers. Can’t believe they are so brazen about it.
I think ultimately we need to design an economic system that allows less work and less consumption. You want those outsourced jobs to come back but done by robotics. Coming back to stop needing to ship them halfway across the world, wasting energy. But we need to have a clear(er) vision to what we want to transition to. Like a partially planned and circular economy that covers the basic needs (food, living space, education, news, healthcare) for everyone for free. Otherwise there is nothing to believe in.
Well, did he get his phone?
You can predict what likely happens next: more neoliberal policies and degradation of quality of life. In one of the next election the fascists take over Canada. They never learn.
But as far as I can remember, you can’t administer the rooms in a space as one. Like you need to be invited into each separate room.
Not saying that you couldn’t add that, I’m saying they don’t seem to want to “do what discord did”. Which is a bummer since the success of discord clearly shows what would be needed.
PS: It’s fine to do that as a UX design choice, more like IRC. But the issue is that people like you (no offense) say it’s the same when it isn’t. Like not even understanding what the problem is.
Reading the headline I thought this would be about something space related, like unfolding solar sails.
Does matrix have multiple chat channels per server / community yet? Last I asked they didn’t understand my question. Basically matrix just isn’t meant to be a replacement for discord.
I think all you can do in an open group chat is use vpn/tor/anonymous email. Besides private messages, but then the server can be forced to disclose the metadata.
Divide and conquer. Non state-actors and special interest have a far easier time attacking a hundred small entities than one big one. Because people have much less bandwidth to track all this shit than it is to spread it around. See ALEC and the strategy behind state rights.
In the end this is about economic power. The only way to curb it is through a democratic government. Lemmy servers too can be bought and sold and the communities captured that grew on them.
