I surprise ppl with my drawing skills, and they always say my place is nice and cosy. Everyone who comes over for the first time gets weirdly surprised. I am not sure if that is a skill tho xD

Btw i saw you had Borderlands on hold did you see the user stats on the whole Frenchies? Big red text “overwhelming negativ”, most comments was about it being spy wear so maybe change that status to Nope with Genshin impact? I haven’t really looked into it tho saw it a moment ago.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍♂️?6·1 month agoI have a lot of respect for you! Keep being motivated and being ambitious!
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google quietly released an app that lets you download and run AI models locallyEnglish51·1 month agoNice! I saw Mozilla also added an ai chat in the browser recently (not in the phone version that I have seen tho).
It is too bad duck.ai only runs the small models. Gpt4o-mini is not very good, it can be very inaccurate and very inconsistent :( I would like to see the 4.1-mini instead, faster and better and got function calling, so it can do web searches for example. O3 can’t so it can only know what it knows until 2023.
But thanks for the information I will be looking out for when 4.1 is added!

Every time I try a game or app that’s supposed to teach you, it feels like I’m starting over, and it never actually becomes fun. I tried Duolingo, but after a while, I found myself just doing super easy lessons to keep my streak going so I wouldn’t have to sit through the boring ones. It felt pretty bad, so I stopped using it when I hit 800 days.
My friend didn’t use any apps and instead started by texting and talking with people and managed to learn Korean in just a year, well enough for casual, everyday conversations or hobby-related stuff. Meanwhile, I’ve been using apps and still can’t hold a conversation with anyone…
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Duolingo CEO tries to walk back AI-first comments, failsEnglish1·2 months agoI would assume it is more about time than money. It is a big investment making a whole functional system with llm (I have a hard time believing it is actually AI), it will cost a lot if done wrong (just like everything else). You can’t just prompt “make a course in Spanish” and get anything good out of it and you still need ppl who can quality check the output. I could see them use it to mass produce sentences and stories in different levels (not the actual story) and voice recordings, but not actually anything creative and I would assume that is the goal. But we have seen too many shitty products to believe in anything with llm.

Thanks for telling me! And thanks for giving people a chance to explain them self, I appreciate that about you :D
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'Andrew Tate phenomena' surges in schools - with boys refusing to talk to female teacherEnglish3·3 months agoI’m actually not sure why so many people down voted my comment, but I’ll try to explain. This article is about boys who don’t respect women or girls. I read another article about girls trying their best but still struggling due to pressure. So I’ve read two very extreme cases, and both articles present it as something widespread. The big issue seems to be social media.
It made me wonder how kids are doing in school, are they more ambitious now but struggling because of mental health? I saw in the comments that a lot of kids are doing poorly.
Just to clarify, I think it’s bad regardless of the reason or how many kids are affected, gender doesn’t matter, and my comment was never about that.
How did you (and maybe others) read my comment? I want to learn to communicate better for next time.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•'Andrew Tate phenomena' surges in schools - with boys refusing to talk to female teacherEnglish518·3 months agoIt would be interesting to know how many children are becoming more ambitious in school. I recently read an article about how more and more girls feel so much pressure to be the best in class that they start controlling their food intake (the only true control they feel they have) leading to anorexia. Two very different but scary extremes.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Firefox, VLC, Gimp, KeePass, LibreOffice among open source software endorsed by French GovernmentEnglish6·3 months agoIt changes the UI text of the website, such as filters, titles, and sorting options, but not the descriptions.
I can’t decide which is worse, a functioning language switch that never included English for the descriptions (which is the only text I actually need translated) or a broken language switch. The way it switches languages is also quite odd, as if it’s asking, ‘Are you sure?’"
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of the craziest censorship instances on TV shows you have seen?2·3 months agoI am very surprised they didn’t ban it instead, the blood isn’t the worst part, especially if you have a very creative mind.

Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Denmark, Netherlands react to Trump's DEI ultimatumEnglish28·3 months agoEvery time I read news about Trump I always wonder what his end goal is. Because he sounds so much like those end users who says unreasonable things like “you need to add/fix/change this” if it is done then they always comes back for more because they didn’t get the end come they wanted and then it all turns out they wanted something that was reasonable (or not) but they demand changes that won’t do that.
Is his end goal really getting more jobs?
And I wonder what kind of jobs he wish to create because a lot of Americans seem to have many weird jobs already like just standing in a corner pointing in a direction or taking care of your filled form by walking 3 meters to another person with it.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Europe goes into daylight saving time despite controversyEnglish16·3 months agoI would have never known if it wasn’t because a coworker told me or because of articles like these. My cat wakes me up at 7- 7:30 and he did that this morning too, so I was very surprised that I slept only 7 hours instead of 8 (before I knew). But the funnits part is that my cat followed DST haha
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why does Firefox on Android raise the sticky filter off the bottom on every site?4·5 months agoThat is very interesting, I have always used firefox and Android and have never seen that problem so I got curious and went to bestbuy.com to check and it looks exactly as it should for me. Do you use any add ons? I use ublocker, decentraleye and super agent.

Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Mastodon’s founder cedes control, refuses to become next Musk or ZuckerbergEnglish1·6 months agoNo it is the opposite, this is the first paragraph in the article:
Mastodon announced Monday that it’s shifting its structure over the next six months to become wholly owned by a European nonprofit organization—“affirming the intent that Mastodon should not be owned or controlled by a single individual.”
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Now Lets Users Say Gay and Trans People Have 'Mental Illness'English143·6 months agoIt isn’t about being a snowflake and I think ppl should learn to be respectful towards each other. It would be a disservice to all of us if no one moderates the internet just look at the Andrew Tate case. There are too many ppl out there who do not understand what it means to hurt another person (regardless of reason). It is easy to ignore comments not directed at you but it becomes easily bullying which can become doxing and escalate fast, especially if you ignore it (have you not been in a school with kids/teen? Same things, it escalate until someone steps in. The teacher moderate and there are rules to not bully, it still happens but someone is on standby at least).
Watching other ppl hurting someone is a bad experience for everyone not just the offenders and victims.
Facebook is such a hateful place to be at that I am never logged in there.
The only iPhone users I ever met who cared were back when texting cost a lot, unless you had a special plan (there was one that made it free if the person you texted had the same plan). Then smart phones came and we all switched to Kik, then WhatsApp, then Messenger (some got both or an alternative). And now we have got free texting and calling across the whole EU, yet none of my friends uses it haha
