Try asking, but I can’t promise the same results.

The smallest, easiest example was his tooth flossing idea. I normally had only flossed right before going to the dentist because I would forget about it, or not feel like doing it or whatever. Trying his little experiment, I’ve now flossed my teeth everyday without missing and it’s already become a non-issue with me. It seems little but it proves the concept strongly enough to me that I’ve started to embrace it in other ways to.
Thank you, thank you, thank you random internet stranger.
Putting the dollar sign after the number. Yes, that is how it is read, but not how it is written. “Five dollars” is $5, not 5$.

ImminentOrbit@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the worst book you’ve ever read?2·9 months agoFor me, I tried reading it years ago and it felt slow like he was going into too much detail about things that didn’t matter, like the slope of the road or some such. After the movies came out and I enjoyed them, I decided to go back and give it another try. What finally made me stop was when I realized a scene he was describing that was dull and boring in the book was actually exciting and intense in the movie. I’m glad for the people who like it, but I’m glad I got to see the story in movie form instead.
ImminentOrbit@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some adulting life hacks that you think others could benefit by learning about them?1·9 months agoI’m getting a lot more downvotes for this than I thought I would. If you disagree, let’s have a discussion. Maybe I’m wrong? But getting a financial advisor made it very easy for me to see what I need to do to retire.
ImminentOrbit@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some adulting life hacks that you think others could benefit by learning about them?11·9 months agoI would recommend against using those then. The one I’m using from Edward Jones is buying funds from a number of different companies, not just specific to Edward Jones. It’s important to ask a potential financial investor how they get paid and that can help you understand whether they’re going to be working in your best interest or not.
Except, the whole point of this thread is an example of that not being the case.
ImminentOrbit@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some adulting life hacks that you think others could benefit by learning about them?1110·9 months agoGet a financial advisor. Unless finances is your job, hobby, or desire, just use someone else for this. I use Edward Jones but I would imagine there are lots of good options. They can help you figure out how much you need to save for retirement and give you realistic goals and expectations. You might be better off than you think, or it might not be hard to get to where you need to be when you have someone who can help you figure this stuff out. At the very least, looking to Roth IRAs
