Big bass guitar and a tiny little trumpet
I’m not the most travelled person ever but I’ve always had good experiences at Edinburgh airport. Staffs been lovely and the security has good (relatively) smoothly.
Trumpet playing: The room you’re playing in really affects the sound you hear. So does your position in that room. If you are having weird issues with pieces you know you can play, try playing in the corner of the rooms, so your playing into the largest physical space possible.
Looking at what you’ve written here, it seems like you don’t actually have a hobby. I would have a go at something you did when you were a kid- maybe you were really into books, maybe you were into cycling, painting, whatever really. But don’t just try it a few times then give up if it doesn’t feel how you want it to feel, try turning it into a project. For example, I wanted to get back into reading books, but I just didn’t enjoy it. So I tried to find out what made me love reading so much as a kid, then recreate that in the present. I tried reading late at night, by the light of a lamppost like I did when I was super into books, and that brought back the enjoyment I used to have. You don’t have to go down that route, the main idea here is to find a new hobby, something to look forward to rather than just existing for the sake of it.
The Cyberpunk OST goes crazy, and the Risk Of Rain franchise has some killer stuff.
I work at McDonald’s, it is not good and is best avoided.
Mines is still going quite strong, paired with a 5 5600x and runs well for (almost) everything I want at 1440p more-than-60-fps
3060 ti I bought during the shortage, overpaid soooo much haha
You’ll probably need to put some time into researching the instrument itself, any descendants of the instruments (some upgrades are just worth it), and the musical trends of the time (eg, tuning lower then A=440, different materials for strings ect)
When I’m writing, if I just listen to the songs I want to take inspiration from the day before a few times (properly listen, with intent) the main ideas/vibe of the songs are far more present in my writing then usual
Bit of of left field here: The going under OST. Was the soundtrack to my exams
I predict this will be quite tame compared to the rest of this thread but here you go anyway:
Our scene opens on a person with a bass guitar, practicing some sick slap bass perched upon an IKEA office chair. The player is lost in the zone, all mental facilities put to work making every strike with the thumb is accurate and powerful, and every pop of the fingers sends the strings into the fretboard with a gorgeous thwack! The sound is heavenly, a deep, rich, cutting tone- full of appropriate levels of CLANK and SNAP. The short riff being performed to a concert of no-one reaches its magnificent height, a slammingly heavy riff sounding like a funky machine gun, the bassists hands become a blur, the strings vibrate with precision and power, a glorious cacophony of ma-
kkrrmp.
Oh crap, I broke a string
Dude I can’t thank you enough this is incredible! Seriously this is really useful :)
I’m a computing/music student thinking of getting into plugin design and similar stuff, I’m curious what plugin design is like and what it consists of. Is there any like quick tips or bits of information you could give me about the field?
High quality recorded audio everywhere I go

My mixing studio monitors, I haven’t properly gotten into mixing yet.
Going Under does this
I’ve got a trumpet (YTR-6320) from the 80s I bought used a bit back. It looks beat to hell but it just sings! It’s as light as a feather aswell- I can play with one hand in my pocket.
Media-wise, I love some old 1930s swing and jazz tracks. It’s super interesting to hear how similar some songs are to modern music.
