How about Cybercab and its robotaxi service? They are starting in Austin this June. That seems very immediate on the horizon
You may feel that they go unapposed and therefore you should be a countering force, but really your efforts are moot. People have their beliefs that won’t be changed online, at least not from some internet stranger. You can make the best arguments in the world and the opposition will simply ignore your point, move the goalposts, and implement the next logical fallacy to keep proving you “wrong” or “an idiot”.
Some could be low investment (~2%) if it is an S&P 500 index fund, but others that rely more on tech/growth stocks could be 5-10% or more. Retirees in drawdown phase (withdrawing 4% annually, or $9,000-$10,000) are extra vulnerable to sequence-of-returns risk—early losses lock in lower balances. A boycott-driven Tesla slump in 2025 could force sales of depressed assets, amplifying losses.
Funny how the people who want to tank Tesla are causing self injury. 401(k) accounts and nearly every major retirement fund are invested into $TSLA. These dumb shits think they are doing something for the world because “Orange man bad, and now Elon bad” and they get to reap the rewards of reducing their own retirement accounts. Well-done.
Dicks out for Harambe
Same. I’ve found my spark again in VR gaming and generally go to the arcade style more! Ain’t nobody got time for a 10 tier skill tree
One answer could be for you to learn and practice philosophy alongside your learnings of world news. In particular, stoicism and stoic philosophy can allow you to watch these external events and consider them as they are, but with the understanding that these things reside outside of your control which preserves your feelings and self from being affected by them. It really brings more power to you through anything you go through or experience.
Philosophers Who Addressed This Question
1.) Albert Camus
• Work: The Myth of Sisyphus (1942)
• Argument: Camus argues that life is absurd, meaning it is full of suffering and chaos without inherent meaning. However, he suggests that one can resist despair by embracing life with defiance and by finding meaning through action and creativity.
• Example: Camus likens human existence to Sisyphus, who is condemned to roll a boulder up a hill only to have it roll back down. Camus proposes that we must “imagine Sisyphus happy,” finding joy in the act of persistence itself rather than in outcomes.
2.) Martha Nussbaum
• Work: Upheavals of Thought: The Intelligence of Emotions (2001)
• Argument: Nussbaum defends the idea that emotions like compassion and anger can be powerful motivators for justice but need to be tempered with rationality and self-care to avoid burnout. She advocates for a philosophy of practical engagement, where one maintains emotional investment in the world while creating boundaries to protect one’s mental well-being.
• Example: Nussbaum might suggest that instead of being overwhelmed by global problems, you focus on one specific issue you can influence—channeling compassion into tangible actions.
3.) Viktor Frankl
• Work: Man’s Search for Meaning (1946)
• Argument: As a Holocaust survivor, Frankl emphasizes the importance of finding purpose even in the face of suffering. He argues that meaning can be found in how we respond to suffering, whether through action, creativity, or how we endure hardships.
• Example: Even when facing immense global crises, Frankl might suggest asking, “What specific actions can I take to create meaning and contribute positively, no matter how small?
No it does not. They have an ordered thyroid panel and that’s it. They will not sneak in a drug screen against your consent. Besides, thyroid is a blood draw and drug screens are urine based. Blood drug screens are more expensive.
Haha, okay so this is about emotion and your predisposition to hate Elon Musk as well as your fear of new technology.
I guess we are not actually participating in conversation anymore so I will bow out.
Good luck my safety champion. Go drive manual and ensure the world always has a person watching, because people don’t get distracted…right?
Sure, I hear you, you’ve lost faith. Sounds like this happened over years which is understandable given the prolonged timelines and failed promises. What makes you think that the system will always need to be supervised? Any new technology can experience hurdles, but can you elaborate on
several mishap and deaths
? Things may happen once in a while for a completely new technology involving vehicles and driving, but for the long term it is a necessary step to develop something that can save countless more lives. Chances are, you are either currently on, or have tried a drug or medication that has lead to numerous deaths and permanent disability during its workup and development. Did you lose faith in medicine and avoid it, or did you take the drug despite the incredibly rare risk of death?
It seems that your attitude about the current situation was formed years ago. Definitely worth a second look and seeing for yourself, as the supervising driver, if you are not yet aware of the improvement and the current state of the software.
A disaster using camera only for autopilot? Tesla FSD supervised has been successfully operating in consumer vehicles using cameras only for a couple years now. FSD software for the last several months has been performing phenomenally. If you take a ride in one it’s not hard at all to see how it could operate fully autonomously even within the next year.
Wow this is the first I’ve heard of a tenant union! I think it’s only natural things like this will arise as affordability continues to decline for rents. And shitty landlords that won’t respond and fix broken things they are responsible for? Fuck them completely
Second this, love the trance and Nintendo tunes! There’s some good lofi Nintendo mixes on YouTube that get me through work
I am not in the know about this. What are they? And what happens?
This and random plugs for that fucking bovine colostrum shit. 3 slides of well known advice then slide 4 BAM “I don’t know how I ever lived with [insert condition here] until I tried this colostrum!!!”
Try $6.75 for their new refresher drinks. Flavored water over ice. No wonder sales are declining.
