CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•That time when Microsoft bought and killed Nokia phone unitEnglish291·1 year agoIt ended up being a bad call but at the time Android only had 2 years in the market and trusting the leading OS company to manufacture a proper mobile product wasn’t a crazy idea. Microsoft just completely mismanaged the whole phone thing and took down Nokia with it.
If I remember correctly the approach was so anti-google that you couldn’t even watch youtube on Windows Phones.
CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The price increase of Disney+ over the past 4 yearsEnglish11·1 year agoWe’ll have to wait and see if they get away with it. I may be OK paying more if I already had my mind set on going and didn’t know about the price hike but if the experience is not worth it I won’t visit again.
Went to Epcot in November 2022 and it was the time when I paid the most and the park looked like a husk of its former self. Now I will actively avoid the parks for the foreseeable future.

CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Airlines say they found loose parts in door panels during inspections of Boeing 737 Max 9 jetsEnglish13·2 years agoBoeing advertises the 737 Max by saying that it works just like the old 737 so you don’t need to retrain your pilots and save money. The issue a few years ago with that is that these planes are not 737 so when some new issue happens the pilots don’t know how to deal.

CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Apple is now banned from selling its latest Apple Watches in the USEnglish151·2 years agoMaybe the sales figures were less than expected and will use this as an excuse to the board.
CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some generational differences between millennials and Gen Z ?6·2 years agoI think this ties back to the original question. Gen Z is way more exposed to social media and therefore world news including propaganda at levels millennials never saw until adulthood. In the 90s you needed to watch the news or read the newspaper to know what was happening and if you missed it you would only know about it if it was broadcasted again. Nowadays we’re bombarded 24/7 with all kinds of news in the same place where you watch funny dog videos.

CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it just me, or has the BS with OpenAI shown that nobody in the AI space actually cares about "safeguarding AGI?"31·2 years agoI’ve only seen a bunch of rumors about the firing but nothing concrete since the board hasn’t given an explanation. So yeah it could be that money wins or it could be something else entirely.
I doubt that Microsoft would’ve hired him if he had strong allegations of wrongdoing.
CarlosCheddar@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI announces leadership transitionEnglish6·2 years agoI agree, maybe OpenAI has been bleeding money and the board had no idea until now.
You would need to wait between a month to 90 days for a test to give you an accurate result. It’s gonna be an interesting 3 months for you, good luck!
Alternatively you can have the 2 sex workers take tests and if they’re clean then you’re clean.
