I switch between having language based thoughts and more abstract thoughts that aren’t language based. I find that my thoughts that aren’t language based are usually more complex. I also can imagine objects, rotate them or walk around familiar places in my mind. Oh and my language based thoughts tend to match the language I am speaking at the moment (I am trilingual).

Bunbury@feddit.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You are hungry and about to eat, when suddenly you drop your food to the floor; What are your first thoughts and what do you do next?English4·22 days agoI am now holding 2 wriggly cats which teleported into the mess to try and clean the floor with their tongues.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•A skill or knowledge that you have that is typically associated with people of the opposite gender but that you think is odd or stupid that people of your own gender don't have?English4·22 days agoThe amount of male to female ratio of comments on this post is wild. We’ve been tackling the female taboo skills so much in the last few decades. Obviously we’re not done but it’s time for the men to make progress too.
Also I guess I can code. And while it’s hardly weird for a woman nowadays most of my field is still 80-90% male

I’ve got pretty weak arms and wrists, but I usually play with my arms resting on something. It’s not like I’m holding it out in front of me while playing. Doesn’t feel natural to hold it up like that, but it would be a bit heavy if I tried long term. I even added the cover dbrand sells which added another bit of weight, but my arms are supported so I really don’t care.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Games@lemmy.world•Steam Deck and SteamOS hit 20,000 playable gamesEnglish62·1 month agoAnd I still feel like their definition of playable is a bit narrow. I regularly play “unplayable” games on my steam deck without much issue. You just might need to fiddle about with the controller settings, compatibility modes and use the built in magnifying tool and keyboard once in a while. It’s really not the end of the world.
My husband and I are in our mid 30’s and don’t have kids. I even work from home 90% of the time so no commute time. I have so much time that I do volunteering next to my full time job. And then I still have time for hobbies.

Bunbury@feddit.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is a celebrity you used to really like, but don't anymore?English2·1 month agoDavid Draiman. Sadly I can’t listen to the guy sing anymore without my brain thinking of the horrors he is actively supporting.
I was on the left before I started reading / watching anything online. My positions didn’t change but it feels like all of politics shifted right. So I guess im further left now by comparison than I used to be.
I think the main difference for me is that the internet wrecked my trust in the mainstream media and people in power. I question things more now than I used to. Then again that could have happened naturally just by growing up too.

Bunbury@feddit.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the dumbest way you've sustained an injury, and what was the injury?English2·2 months agoWhen I was about 12 or so I had a AA battery and some copper wire I used for crafting. Out of nowhere I suddenly got really curious how good of a conductor that wire would be. So I pressed it onto both poles with my fingers. Had a nice black scorched line in my thumb for a few months because it turns out the excess energy needs to go somewhere. In this case in the form of extreme heat.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto World News@lemmy.world•Global warming target unlikely to be reached, UN saysEnglish3·2 months agoYep. It’s a big part of why my partner and I opted not to have kids. Not only is not having kids one of the best ways to limit one’s own carbon footprint but I also am deeply worried about the quality of life for us and for all generations after us.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What made you realize your parents aren't good people? /srsEnglish5·2 months agoWhen my best friend started crying hysterically and begging to sleep over at our place because she knew she’d be severely beaten at home that night (for losing a hat at school that day). Not only was she not allowed to sleep over, but I was told off for asking. They did nothing about the abuse she told us about.
If I hadn’t known then I’d have known 2 years after when she screamed at me for going out of my way to save a kitten.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Technology@beehaw.org•Apple's USB-C transition is a confusing mess (and that might be on purpose)English1·2 months agoMore than 6GB per minute in 4K? Because that already seemed like a lot.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Technology@beehaw.org•Apple's USB-C transition is a confusing mess (and that might be on purpose)English1·2 months agoAlright, fair. Noted. Just because their marketing calls it ProRes RAW doesn’t mean it is true RAW. I didn’t look into it that much.
What I do know though and what my point was about is that it makes big files fast. Files of a type and scale you can’t effectively do anything useful with on an iPhone itself. So if you want to edit them (and why else would you shoot in that format?) then step 1 is that you want them off the phone and on a platform that can deal with them. And for that transfer speed matters.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto Technology@beehaw.org•Apple's USB-C transition is a confusing mess (and that might be on purpose)English4·2 months agoThere is at least 1 use case for it: some of the newer iPhones can shoot raw format video. Apple calls this ProRes. It is also possible to take those videos as large as 4K. This comes out to about 6GB per minute of video taken.
Imagine someone like a YouTuber decided to take a couple of 20-30 minute clips. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to wait for wireless transfer on that. Especially not if that is a regular thing someone does.
I currently live to make life a little better for animals and other people. And when I have time left over I use creative outlets to create stuff.
Doubt I’ll be much help here if you’re worried about carbs. My main comfort food is pasta. Piles of pasta. I like just about any sauce or topping.
Only advice I’ve got is to think back to your childhood and see if you can think of anything that might scratch a nostalgia itch. That usually helps me too.
Bunbury@feddit.nlto World News@lemmy.world•Pakistan claims it has ‘credible intelligence’ India will strike within 36 hoursEnglish5·3 months agoWell, if Pakistan got it right this might just be disconcerting enough for India to abort this planned attack . Even if Pakistan didn’t get it right or are maybe even bluffing it might create an international reaction that could cause India pause before any future attacks.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve re-purchased the game for Switch and iOS after already having it on my PC for ages. I didn’t really want to play it on those platforms but just wanted to give more money to concerned ape.
