I like this. Seems like there aren’t actually as many people willing to nazi in person as the armchair nazis thought.

There’s an interesting kind of poster that I’ve only seen here on Lemmy, the “why bother, it’s not going to work” poster.
Why vote? It doesn’t matter.
Why write or call your rep, they’re in the pocket of blah blah anyway?
Why put a bumper sticker in your car? Performative BS, maaaan.
Etm etm…
How do you feel when you see Trump stickers everywhere?
How do you feel when you’re in a neighborhood with pride flags everywhere? Is that different and better?
What about when you see Wellstone! sticker in deep red Midwest? A little hope that there are other people who haven’t given up?
Show up! Speak out! Be visible! Live into the small moments of joy where resistance lives!

Yah, I really like this approach. Same reason I set up Timeshift and Mint Backup on all the user machines in my house. For others rsync + cron is aces.

I like the sound of that!
However it looks like has a lot of potential for a ‘xz’ style exploit injection, so I’ll probably skip it.
From the project’s README.md : The current maintainer continues to apply pull requests and makes regular releases, but unfortunately has no capacity to do any development beyond addressing high-impact issues. When reporting bugs, please understand that unless you are including a pull request or are reporting a critical issue, you will probably not get a response.

I can’t decide if I’m happy or disappointed that no one suggested I make a Beyowolf cluster.

Thanks for that caveat. I could definitely see myself falling into that

See, this is interesting. I’m out here looking for the new shiny easy button, but what I’m hearing is “the old config-file based thing works really well. ain’t broken, etc.”
I may give that a swing and see.

this looks promising. Seems a little heavy-weight at first glance… How was it to get up and running?

LAN only. I may set up a VPN connection one day but it’s not currently a priority. (edited post to reflect)

They did more than that, their bathroom got blown up by a religious nut over their inclusive bathroom policy, and they re-opened without changing their policy.
They advocated internally for LGBTQ people especially trans people.
That’s why this absolute cave, spinning about-face so fast they could start a fire without matches… this is so fucking dumb.
And the people who see it are justifiably disgusted.
Are API calls to the device signed or whatever? At a minimum one could snoop traffic to rev-eng the API, then recreate it on a lan-only segment
