I have no sources for this so take with a grain of salt… But I’ve heard that Tesla turns off self driving just before an accident so they can say it was the drivers fault. Now in this case, if it was on while it drove on the tracks I would think would prove it’s Tesla’s faulty self driving plus human error for not correcting it. Either way it would prove partly Tesla’s fault if it was on at the time.

I had a “Big meeting” last week. It went more like

1/2 day of adjusting the deck, a dry run, tweaks, feedback, wow I’m doing great this meeting is going to go great I’m so prepared!

10 minutes after meeting starts… Important individual: “Let me stop you right there”, boss takes over meeting, meeting details.

1/2 day of anxiety about how I did my best and it still wasn’t enough, and also how “Important individual” is an asshole and really just didn’t give a shit about the meeting in the first place. And to be clear… THEY REQUESTED THE MEETING WTF!!!

You just can’t win sometimes.

I feel like the answer to this question will depend on your location and what you’re used to seeing. I personally grew up in the Chicago suburbs and then moved to Chicago and the difference in choices at the grocery store is night and day. Not only are there far more niche items, but there are also more stores to select from. So if one store doesn’t have something, I simply go to another. But I also have noticed that if I’m out in the rural areas, it’s pretty strictly the basics. There’s also a big difference between regions. I have more variety in Chicago than in Phoenix and there’s certainly more variety in New York than Chicago. I haven’t noticed a drop off at my usual grocery stores, however…

I have noticed a large drop in variety specifically at box clothing outlets. There is less variety and less stocked sizes readily available. I think this is likely because of the proliferation of online shopping and corporations seeing this as an opportunity to save money by simply shipping less popular items to stores when people can order them online instead.

That’s just been my personal experience having traveled around a bit 🤷

Generally it’s fine to remove those but I would consider having it put back on if you live anywhere that gets snow. Reason being is that this plate protects undercarriage parts from excessive corrosion as a result of salt on the roads. So your car isn’t going to break down if you remove it, but if you plan to keep the car long-term, it can extend the life of those parts. As someone who works on my own car and has also had several 15+ year old vehicles, I can attest that this plate does indeed reduce corrosion in those areas.

I was going to say, I didn’t have Internet until college we still had CD-ROMs, game consoles, and of course the public library for Internet when needed. Not that these options aren’t excellent free entertainment.

Just saw Elephant Man at the Music Box Theatre. Incredibly moving film if you haven’t seen it. They’re currently running a film series on David Lynch and that was the first of his films I had ever seen. Planning to see more this week if I can!

I genuinely don’t know how chipotle has survived this long when excellent family run Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen all over the country and are super cheap to boot. I’ve tried it a few times and just never understood what people liked about it that you can’t get at your local Mexican joint.

The feeling is even better when they let you go because you no longer have a moral obligation to transition anything over to your coworkers. You can just fuck off and not feel bad. This typically highlights all the holes in management when they are ineffective at delegating your tasks and things get dropped. My husband witnessed this happen recently. They let an employee go nearly a year ago, then a client started sending emails wondering what was happening to their project and why there hadn’t been communication.

A long time ago I was able to step outside the morning after an ice storm. It was sunny, and everything looked like glistening glass. Every tree, bench, light pole, etc. it was one of the most beautiful but eerie things I’ve ever seen. And yes, it’s quite dangerous. The weight of the ice compromises the integrity of an awful lot of unexpected things and ice all over the sidewalks doesn’t help either.

They are also more nutritious in the off-season because they have to wait for the fruit/vegetables to ripen before freezing as opposed to picking unripe and using treatments to ripen in storage. Though I prefer to get stuff from my own garden and process enough to have during the winter so I know I’m always eating nutritious food from my garden year-round. Understandably unattainable for some however.
