It surprises me how many system utilities I use that are older than I am. I am currently initializing a disk on a cloud server with an application that was written when Ford was the US president.

I think they mean, why are AI companies plagiarizing the Greendale flag? AI Pluribus Anus
Microsoft did the June layoffs we knew were coming since January and pinned it on “AI cost savings” so that doing so would raise their stock price instead of lower it.
The row of 20XXs makes me laugh. Looks real bright around 2077, you cyberpunk nuts.
At this point I’m referring to all Lemmy meme storms as beans.
Not poopin’? That’s a bean.
Moths? That’s a bean.
Beans? Oh you better believe that’s a bean.
Many years ago when we finally sunset out first generation servers, we took them out to a gun range and let the support department have the first shots.
Once upon a time there were two types of Dairy Queens. Some were just ice cream, but the ones called “Dairy Queen Braizer” sold hot food too. Eventually they all sold hot food.
Spicy food never had an effect on my stomach until one day in my late 30’s. Now there’s a fuzzy threshold where I’m OK, but there’s a limit. A whole serving of my favorite bulgogi is always too much.
It was a joke. I feel like we’re all living Brazil 2.
Wait, those weren’t made as a prop for Brazil 2?
We were born into a system that requires that we make money if we want to participate. Hopefully the means of doing so has at least some desirability beyond that, even if only “this line of effort seems interesting enough that I wont constantly fantasize about stepping in front of a fast moving bus, and thus ruining its driver’s money making obligation too.”
It all becomes normal after a while but I still stress about the things that could take it away. Treefalls during big storms and fire hazards and places where people might trip and gutter overflows and was that a carpenter ant and and and.
A now, ten years later, we’re doing some minor remodeling and a lot of those money stresses and fears of the unknown are coming back.
My state just made self-serve gas a thing so I got an electric. If I’m going to have to fuel up my own car, I’ll do it in my carport.
I use my post/comment history (and saves) as a way to know what threads to go check in on later. And I get a kick out of seeing a lot of upvotes and dislike seeing anything in negative territory. But I don’t have votes in mind when I post.
The Leading Edge Model D. An 8088 from the late 80s that we got 3rd hand
It had 2 double density 5.25" floppy drives and 256K of RAM! If I let it warm up 10 minutes it could even run Print Maker Pro.
I stopped using a case a couple phones ago. Haven’t broken anything yet and my last phone was 7 when it stopped getting security updates and I had to move on.
My wife always uses a case and screen protector and has still broken more than one.
Were they monkey-fighting snakes on a Monday-Friday plane?
In simplest and most idealistic terms: The Senators speak for the needs and culture of their state. They make the functional apparatus of the republic.
Congress people of the house speak for their constituents and give us the representative democracy part. The courts speak for the law and maintain the “constitutional” part of our constitutional democratic republic. The POTUS should speak for the nation and serves and a check and balance against the others.
Snot Flickerman was right, it’s dd. It was in the docs I linked to show the commands. It runs on anything with storage devices and an operating system. I mainly use it on Windows servers running on AWS.
