Alsjemenou@lemy.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it normal for your body to be falling apart at 28?Nederlands61·3 months agoIm 45 and im fine, i do hard physical labour without much stress. No (big) health issues. The trick is to not be overweight, and have a decent lifestyle. And it’s not like im some kind of health guru, i smoked until i was 36, i never played any sport, sat around gaming… It honestly doesn’t take that much to be healthier. So really all the people complaining that things go downhill after you’re thirty are full of shit. There is no reason why you can’t grow muscle, endurance, and generally condition yourself way into your 50s. If your body is breaking down after 30 you either have physical problems or you aren’t actually living healthy in earnest.
Alsjemenou@lemy.nlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•So, is the USA screwed?Nederlands25·4 months agoIn a sense it is done. That sense is being a beacon of progress. All presidents before Trump understood the relationship America had with the world as being a world power. While there always was a conservative voice in America, conservative presidents were always able to mask self interest under the flag of progress, bringing democracy, peace and free markets. Now ultraconservative fascist are no longer masking, Trump and Musk are literally not smart enough to understand. The USA played a very important role in the world order and the current administration is basically giving that up.
Trump and Musk, because they really aren’t smart (i can’t stress this enough, they lack the mental capacity), are not considering the value of that role, the services the US provides. They only think about the value of things and of money. More rockets, tarifs on goods, expenditure… And see these as things along which progress is measured.
While that does, to a small extent, captures progress. It forgets the foundations of progress, peace, education, financial security, social cohesion, to name a few. Sorry, i say forget… But really what i should be saying is dismantling. They are also clueless about the value of services and the service economy. Which is, or has become, another measure of progress.
Anyway the point is, the US can’t maintain their position in the world order. They can’t maintain a government that understands their responsibility in that order. They abandoned their classic role without providing the world with a new/better one.
The US has been degraded to a trade partner.

I enjoy the classic swiss army knife. Scissors, pincet, knife, saw, bottle opener, pliers… You can get it all in one small package.
Headphones/earphones can’t be an app.
Cup/bottle/thermos/liquid container. Drink more water, enjoy hot coffee.
A skill. Spend time getting good at some random non virtual things, penspinning, coin tricks, cardistry, calligraphy…

Like i said, there is a point here that’s getting lost in accusations. There indeed is a blindspot for Harris’ faults.
Alsjemenou@lemy.nlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Seriously, what the f*** is keeping Donald Trump in this presidential race?Nederlands3·10 months agoThey’re questioning whether or not the other side is bogged down in idpol. The other guy accused them of doing idpol. Big difference. My point isn’t that idpol doesn’t exist obviously it does. Talking about it isnt the same as doing it.

That’s it I’m just curious what it would look like. Ill probably go live in a loch or something.
Alsjemenou@lemy.nlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think animals have thoughts? Are they capable of hearing that little voice that we humans have in our heads?Nederlands21·11 months agoHow do you know other humans have thoughts? There is no way of measuring it, and there is no way to tell if someone is lying about it. You could measure brain activity. But There is no need for brain activity to be accompanied by experience. There is no law of nature that says that electrical signals are accompanied by experience or thoughts. There is also no way to tell the difference between a millimeter cube of brain from any animal. So if you believe that brain activity is represented by thoughts, then there is absolutely no way to draw an arbitrary line between humans and animals.
So i don’t even think it’s a question.

There will come a time in your late twenties and early thirties that you’ll feel like you’ve missed the boat, that you’re lagging behind, that it’s too late to still start or switch… And then you’ll get over it in your late 30s again. Finally realise that life doesn’t end and in fact that there is a lot left after 40. And that’s when they call it the midlife crisis, it’s not a crisis. The crisis is in your late twenties and early thirties.

In terms of repair ability and ease of maintenance, pretty much all old tech. In terms of price… There is no chance, it’s insane how cheap tech has gotten.
The power consumption of old stuff is also extremely bad compared to now. So yeh you can have fridges, washing machines, or whatever appliances from the 70’s that still work and are easy to maintain… They use way, way, way too much power for what they do. In an ideal world where energy is free, sure that stuff is better. We don’t tho.
Also, basically everything that uses software while it shouldn’t, has a worse user experience than before.

I didn’t give myself enough rope to stand up properly and had to precariously balance while securing myself about 6 meters (20 ft) up in a tree. I was secured once but would have hurt myself a lot if i fell, so yeh that’s why i was scared for a second two days ago.
Alsjemenou@lemy.nlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•is this the right way to establish boundaries with my nosy coworkers at the hospital?Nederlands21·1 year agoNobody is forcing anybody to do anything. And if you believe that people need to owe you something before you can engage with them, your obviously not being serious. Ignoring social interaction in a group is not a great way of going about life.
Especially not when you’re able and your only excuse is that you don’t want to. That’s how a 5 year old navigates life.
45m I knew from a very early age that i never wanted to be a father. I have always been very upfront about it with my partners and it has ended one relationship. She found out that she did grew, after two years of being in a relationship, to have a child wish. And I could have at that time become a dad, and im sure i would be great at it, but im very happy that never happened. I got my vasectomy soon after that, i was around 30. Just to make sure there were never any accidents.
For the question of why… I don’t know. I’ve tried to analyse it but i can’t give a deeper reason than feeling a deep aversion. I have a good relation with my parents, had a decent childhood and i love my nephews dearly. I like children and i don’t mind being around them. I don’t particularly care for anti child propaganda either.
My partner and i are living a child free life. She also has zero interest in having children of our own.
