Gotta love how the “expert-approved strategies” don’t even mention that you should unionize and stop thinking that workers’ rights are “comunism”.
I am not a velociraptor

With a little delay (sorry, life kept me busy enough so I couldn’t read this before), I just finished reading. I gotta say this was a rollercoaster.
I love the news parts, as always, since you manage to get a whole week of news compressed in a single article (and without the clickbait ads) that feels fresh and nice to read.
But knowing the kind of ordeal you are dealing with is heartbreaking. First and foremost, your health comes first. If you need to take a pause from this, you don’t have to apologize, it’s the right thing to do so go ahead and do it. I’m really sorry to hear about all you are going through, I hope you get to feel better soon!! Best wishes from an user who is clearly human!
I’m testing this this evening. My only gripe with soulseek is that if I want to download a playlist from spotify, I need to manually search for each song.
Soulseek is your friend. Setting up your library will be a tough step, but once done, you’ll feel so free that it will be worth it.
It can be quite simple: the government, under user request, can generate a certificate that only contains the fact that you are more than 18 years old and is stored locally in your device. Since it’s the state the one issuing it, the info of the cert can be trusted.
Then, when you log into a service requiring age verification, you log using your device that sends the info from your locally stored certificate, telling the website simply that you are not underage.
The state doesn’t need to know how are you using the cert, and the website won’t receive any personal info because the certification authority is a trusted organsation so the info about it is automatically trustworthy.
Tbf, I hope nintendo keeps going this route and punishing more and more its customers. After all, if you keep supporting a company that hates you so much, you deserve what you get.
As a general rule, if a corpo is against something the EU does, it means your government should do it too because it’s a good thing.
Days ago I discovered vacuumtube for steam deck. It’s basically youtube with tv interface but with all the adblocks. It works wonders in game mode and even has controller support.
Oh that’s so kind of you to say! I have to say, I’ve been pretty down about it all, but writing this up made me so very happy. I really love Lemmy for how easy it is to share these long-form posts :)
Happy to read this (the part about writing this making you happy I mean!!).
Lemmy is great for sharing long posts, much like reddit was before the enshitification. It’s good to see long elaborated posts here among all the memes and other low effort content. And in the case of your posts, they are also a nice read in my mornings because of all the possitivity and joy you can feel when reading them. You really pour a lot of that in your posts and it feels!
Sounds wonderful, I’m looking this up now! It sure sounds weird, but the longer the gaming industry runs and ruins great things, these odd little different ones just make me happy!
I love “'weird” or unconventional games. And right now, it’s the indie world that provides these gems. In an industry that looks for the short-term profit like the “mainstream” videogame one, they rarely innovate anymore. They just pick a formula that works and copy it until they find a more profitable one, so innovation now happens mostly in the indie world, giving birth to games as odd as this one, a yo-yo player bat that goes around a city beating corpo suits to recover a monopoly! You won’t see EA making this kind of game, ever.
I was waiting for this post, thank you! Since I discovered this “series” I’ve been hooked. It’s nice to read some long content in a non clickbaity way (that seems to be the norm in the industry nowadays).
I’m really sorry about your nerve damage and hope you recover as soon as possible!
As for what I’ve been playing, right now I’m going through Blasphemous 2 (i loved the first one too) and a nice surprise: Pippistrello and the cursed yo-yo. A zelda-like adventure in which you play as a bat with a yo-yo fighting industry magnates to help your aunt recover the monopoly on energy she built to keep a grip on the city (I know! The setting is original, to say the least).
The gameplay makes you think of 2d zelda games, but the yo-yo makes combat (and even movement) a completely different thing of other games, I suggest you to try the demo!!
Go figure. Probably they are going to monitor traffic somehow to see if you visit certain websites and if you stay on them for too long, they flag you as a pirate. I’m not concerned, I browse the internet through a vpn.
In Italy they are aiming to block not only soccer streams but any audiovisual content. And they are threatening to fine people using the sites, unlike before, when only the site owners could be prosecuted.
And you assumed it was me because… why? Lol mate, I haven’t reported you
That’s why we can have a woman as the pope, right?
Yeah they… are not good parents. They always were more interested in drinking than in growing their kids. And they both try to make you feel miserable because they now have understood that they lost their children due to their own selfishness and ego.
When he tried to make me feel bad for almost dying in another country, it was the thing that snapped and made me cut the already thin ties completely.
Apparently, going from europe to america buying the ticket at last minute is very expensive, they also had to add the stay in the hotel for one of them. For what he said, he spent around 9k euro on that trip (odd, i paid around 1500 for two people). Still, he threw that to me to make me feel guilty of their shitty spending habits. It was some years ago, when our relationship was already ice cold.
They both are shitty parents and now they wonder why I don’t talk to them.
Depends. If we take from when I was a kid? Probably something in the hundreds of thousands or even in the millions. I pirated pretty much everything because I lived in a very small town with no electronics shop so I couldn’t even buy games.
However, in the last 8 years or so? I find that I rarely pirate games anymore. Bundles, steam sales and refunds allow me to buy without worrying about liking the game.
Music is also something I don’t pirate anymore. I’m not one needing thousands of tracks, but rather a small and select collection. So I occasionally buy from bandcamp or other services so I can keep the music I want in my jellyfin server.
Films and shows are a different thing tho. At home whave netflix, so for most stuff we go there, but if something’s not there, I’ll pirate it. So… idk but… some hundreds? I’m not a fan of movies and most of the stuff I watch (which is not a lot) is on netflix.
I went on a trip to another country. Unfortunately, I had an accident (involving a fucking hurricane) that almost killed me.I had insurance so they covered all the medical expenses, including tickets and accomdations for one of my parents (aka: one of them could come free of charge). They decided that it was a good opportunity to visit the country since one was coming “for free” and they only had to pay for the other one.
Years later, my father told me that they are still paying the debt for the money they spent “because of me” when I had that accident so it was my fault they were in debt.
While I agree regulation must be enforced, let’s not forget that if a kid is playing on a phone that has a credit card saved, is enterely their parents’ fault.
And same if the kid has access to the card itself.
Laws to regulate lootboxes are a must, and I believe this kind of products should be treated as gambling. But FFS, it’s your kid, take some responsibility on what they play and what they buy. A 10 years-old can’t open a bank account or a credit card by themselves, so the card is their parents’. You are doing something very wrong as a parent if your kid can dispose of your credit cards unchecked and freely.
Don’t call it “being trafficked”, call it “surprise random country visit”.
