Those people are conspiracy nuts. Don’t listen to them.
Eh, as I said I haven’t been keeping up with it and I’m starting to forget stuff. I should get back into it. I did pretty good though when I was actively learning. I’d say even one of the best in the class that were learning it from scratch.
I went to Russian classes in uni for a bit over one year, and at home I did the exercises in the workbooks we had for the course + studying vocabulary with Anki. Basically the classic way to learn a language in school.
I started learning Russian 2 and a half years ago now maybe, mostly in uni classes. Haven’t done anything in a while though. I generally think slavic languages are cool and would like to learn another actually.
Я начинала учить русский может быть 2 с половиной года назад, в основном в универе, но ничего не делала за учение в последнее время. В общем я думаю, что славянские языки круто и действительно хочу бы учить другую.
This is a way broader phenomenon than just dark patterns or whatever. It exists in open-source as well which generally does not have any incentives to do this sort of stuff.
They should have one of these next to each city-owned grocery store.
Just saw this article linked in a ThePrimeagen video. I didn’t watch the video, but I did read the article, and all of this article is exactly what I’m always saying when I’m complaining about current UI trends and why I’m so picky about the software I use and also the tools I use to write software. I shouldn’t have to be picky, but it seems like developers (professional and hobbyist alike) don’t care anymore and users don’t have standards.
Topical minoxidil and finasteride are the main treatments for hair loss and are proven to work.
Estrogen also very likely works well with hair loss this recent, it does for me. And it’s much lower maintenance depending on how you take it. Depends on what you think of the other effects :^)
Supplements and everything else that’s not specifically medication for it* is mostly bullshit unless you have nutrition deficiency (in case of supplements). You can get yourself tested for it by a doctor but it’s unlikely to be the case especially if your father also has hair loss.
* there’s some others like dutasteride but in the end they are all DHT blockers like finasteride as far as I know (DHT is what kills hair follicles)
This is why Youtube Music lasted a total of one day of me testing it a while ago (this was when I had Premium for a while and figured might as well test it). Insane to have a scroll view that expands as you scroll down, taking five seconds to load the next 10 items, instead of a fixed-size list.
I’ve started buying music
Okay, to avoid confusion maybe I should use the same term you used, which is sexual preference, and not sexual orientation. This is what I’m talking about (from your OP):
The second part is sexual prefernces. I do not know much about sex or sexual preferences. I am a young adult, and have not had to know about this for any person that I have met yet. I have never had the interest to know about this for someone, neither have I retained this information. I understand that if you are looking out for partner/s, then you would have to share this, so we would have to use some words for it. But why do we have to keep this as a part of gender. As in, why would I want to share this information with my governments (who do census), or for my visa applications. Should this not just be something personal?
The only one who talks about this in the linked comment chain is the other person, and only tangentially.
So, again I suppose, in which way do you think this is part of gender?
Yeah. I think sex as a general classifier is not very useful, both in a colloquial and also medical context. I know that firsthand due to taking HRT, which already causes very medically relevant changes but of course not across the board for all sexual characteristics. But I wanted to keep it relatively short :)
Hm, where? I only saw you talk about gender vs sex, for which there is no difference in my native language either. And they certainly are closely related to the point where the majority of people identify as the gender corresponding to their sex.
However sexual orientation (such as “straight” or “gay” or “aroace” for example) is an entirely different thing as it describes your attraction to other people.
Sexual orientation is not part of gender! In which way do you think it is?
Oh gee I wonder why depressed kids are increasingly online where they are more free to express themselves, in a society where mental health problems are very stigmatized and confiding in someone that you want to kill yourself can get you imprisoned.
Also, related post on the general concept of internet addiction and gambling social media addiction.
going to bat for the concept of internet addiction as someone under 80 is spectacularly funny
damn people are spending a lot of time on the combination newspaper/public square/vast searchable library of incomprehensible amounts of information/storefront/private communications/some people’s actual job technology. presumably there is some nefarious Scary Pathological Aspect to this,
Imagine if you called gambling addiction “addiction to going outside” and doomed the discourse to constantly bounce between “ok SOME outside activities are bad, you need to have a good relationship with how you interact” and “theres nothing wrong with going outside dumbass”
“gambling addiction” is an invention of the gambling industry leveraged to pathologise the human misery inflicted on purpose as part of their business model and divert discussions of that misery and suffering away from regulatory and political interventions that could prevent that harm and towards biomedicalized management of those experiencing that (again–foreseeable, inevitable, industry-working-as-intended) harm
Yeah! To add to this:
Hm, okay, that does sound like the real client IP will get lost and every connection will appear to come from the proxy then. It would be good if that were passed somehow. My current setup adds the X-Forwarded-For header for example.
Oh interesting, I’ll have to look into that. Is this with that “proxy protocol” I’ve seen mentioned? If not, does this preserve it pass through the client socket address?
Tbf, technically data is still decrypted at the reverse proxy and then re-encrypted. So if someone manages to reconfigure the proxy or read its memory somehow they could read traffic in plain text.
However then since they have to control the VPS, they could also get a new cert for that domain (at least the way I’ve configured it) even if it was passed as is to the real host via a tunnel and read the plaintext data that way, so I don’t think a tunnel protects against anything.
Is this a real screenshot of him crying about the initiative reaching 100%?
